So two things that I found with this update

1)my battery was at 22% and it still let me perform the update. Used to need to be at 50% to process.

2)the 16PM is noticeably faster now. Changing apps and even loading them. It’s a legit difference.
I wonder if some of the speed up was just due to the update doing a reset of your phone.

Safari contextual menu bug is fixed. “Paste and Go” was blank in 18.0

That’s nice but never EVER do a software update on your iPhone below the 50% in fact it’s recommended to have more fully battery like at least 80% or while charging.

(Issue resolved)

Apple Support had me go into the Control Center, delete the Wallet, then add it back. When I went to add an icon, it reindexed all of the icons for Control Center. Now I’m working again!

I think they mean they updated their Apple devices all at once.

Even if the Watch puck had data pass-through, Apple only releases deltas of watchOS OTA.
Hardly seems relevant to bring up that OTA updating worked on devices that were not updated through Apple Devices then, when the original point was that updating through Apple Devices was bricking devices. This person is completely muddying the waters.
I p

The bricking issue was only on the iPad Pro M4 models not the iPhones and other Apple Products.
No. The bricking issue has been with ANY device updated through Apple Devices, and nobody has been able to demonstrate otherwise as of yet. I demonstrated this on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, 15 Pro, 16 Pro, and an iPad Air (not a Pro)

Apple today released iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1, the first updates to the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 operating systems that debuted earlier in September. iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 come two weeks after the launch of iOS 18.

The new software can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads over-the-air by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

According to Apple's release notes, the iOS 18.0.1 update addresses issues with several bug fixes for the touch screen, camera, and Messages app. Apple's release notes for the update are below.

There have been multiple complaints about these issues. iPhone 16 owners have been running into trouble with the touchscreen since the new models launched, with the display at times not responding to touch.

iPadOS 18 has been unavailable for the M4 iPad Pro models since shortly after the update came out because it was bricking some devices. Apple's full release notes are below.

For more on the features available in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, we have a dedicated roundup.

When updating to this software did you guys have the hello screen come up? I had it come up then I required me to connect to WiFi and showed me info about Siri before I could get back to my Home Screen

I totally agree. I was around 26% when I updated, and my 16P is really snappy. No more screen lag issues when typing.

I wonder if this new update will fix my battery health degradation? My 15 pro has gone from 100 percent down to now 94 percent ever since updating to iOS 18. Anyone else encounter this issue? My phone is currently sitting around 310 cycles. It could be normal but it just dropped 3 percent in what seems like less than a weeks time.

No problem with the iPhone pro max 14. Easy Install no bugs no freezes or nothing. It works perfectly.!

Idk why this is what you’re going the wall for. But, ok.

It seems like a fairly serious issue to me if one of Apple’s procedures for routine device updates and maintenance is straight up bricking devices. But of course in this thread so far we’ve had nothing but people downplaying the severity of the issue if not entirely denying it outright. The sycophants are out in full force…

Remember iOS 8?

has anyone been having network connectivity issues since the update? When using apps on my phone I get a message saying it’s not connected to the internet that I need to reconnect! I’ve got full cell service and this started with the new update.

iOS 18 has to be the buggiest major release in years. My battery is in free fall for most of the day, even with this years 'better battery" (No change in my usage habits from the last phone).

This update couldnt have come quick enough.
Have been throwing it into low battery power mode a lot 😱

I updated and it seems ok, but I had some bugs that are not clearly mentioned in the release. One is the camera that crashes when I open it, doesn't matter how. Only a restart fixes it for a while.

I experienced the performance issue and the battery drain, we'll see if I feel some improvements with this bug fix.

The touchscreen issues on my iPhone 16 Pro Max appear to have been resolved.
I was having the same on my 15 Pro Max too especially on the lock screen, had to jab at it twice to wake it up, seems good now 😀 I’m hoping this vague memory allocation issue will also fix the odd random app crashing I had. 🥴
