So my touchscreen issue on the iPhone 15 is not fixed, according to Apple? Great!!! :(

I was hoping that this update would fix my problem with accessing the tools to edit and change wallpapers from the lock screen but if this update was to fix that problem - they failed. Have to push back hopes for the 18.1 release. If only they had incorporated a delete option in Settings > Wallpaper I wouldn't care about the lock screen failure.

the what now
if you swipe up in the lock screen tools you can delete, just worked for me?

I upgraded from 13 pro to 16 pro... the storage was going down and the battery life was shocking... it went back..

Any word if CarPlay has improved? Have seen tons of reports about issues with CarPlay.

I wonder if this new update will fix my battery health degradation? My 15 pro has gone from 100 percent down to now 94 percent ever since updating to iOS 18. Anyone else encounter this issue? My phone is currently sitting around 310 cycles. It could be normal but it just dropped 3 percent in what seems like less than a weeks time.
Same for me

Well, the update from iOS 17.7 to 18.0.1 went well enough. I can’t say I like the way the new OS organizes my Favorites page in Safari.

But, more importantly, RCS seems to work at some times and not others. My first transmission to an Android-owning friend with attachment worked fine. The second, to my brother, did not go through. Both are on Verizon. Also, RCS still doesn’t seem to work just on wifi while messaging from my iPad - I still need to have my iPhone turned on.

Other than that, no major problems.

Doesn’t appear to have fixed the issue of idle battery drain overnight. Still resolutely burning through 2% an hour doing…nothing.

Same here. 2% battery drain overnight. But I’ll give it a week or two to settle down.

No, for one I was never on 17.7 on any of the devices I personally tried. One iPhone was already on the iOS 18 beta and could not be updated to the final. One of the iPads was already on ipad OS 18 final and couldn’t be restored to the same FW without failing. So it didn’t seem to matter which firmware you were coming from.
Its been discussed here that the MS Apple Devices app was crap and barely worked. So perhaps you should delete it and install iTunes instead. Or resort to OTA, either of which work fine unlike the Apples Devices app.

Sorry, but did not have any problems on my iPhone 16 Pro, Apple Watch 10 and iPad M1. Also not after installed a few moments ago to the latest 18.0.1.
He is referring to using the Apple Devices app found in the Microsoft store. Not updating in general.

Looks like you have FindMy running away causing your drain. Perhaps take a look there and see what its attempting to "find" and address that. It is "doing something" apparently.

I downloaded 18.0.1 on my base 16 last night. As of this morning, when I check the battery, it still says the update is finishing in the background. It's been at least 12 hours. Is that normal?

I don't get that message on my iPad Air or iPad Mini.

That doesn't make sense though, as the percentages imply that the home screen took 3x more battery than FindMy despite a 0m screen-on time.

I reckon it'll be a system process that doesn't appear on the battery stats screen.

Yeah I have tried removing all my find my devices but it didn’t change anything. I’ve put my phone in airplane mode, no difference, I’ve reset my phone, no difference. Its always the same two apps Home and Lock Screen and Find My. However, Home and Lock Screen is the big culprit. Even before iOS18, Find My would show as running but had little to no impact on idle battery drain. I’m at the point where I’m just going to give up and put my phone on the charger overnight. It appears Apple is more focused on pleasing shareholders with Apple Intelligence than it is with putting out a stable OS so there really isn’t much that can be done at this point other than hope they find their way back to being the customer focused company they used to be.

For me it says that my Clicks keyboard is draining the battery overnight, but that's impossible as it's not connected overnight. Something doesn't add up here, for both you and me.

Has it been discussed anywhere here before I reported it? If so, it was not discussed thoroughly enough for me to see it before it caused a catastrophic problem.
We can keep hand-waving the issue and make excuses just because there are alternative methods of installation, but I think that a critical piece of software from the trillion dollar tech company whose tagline is “it just works” should, well… work. Not brick devices when one attempts to do the one thing it is designed to do.

If I’m not mistaken, iTunes cannot be used anymore, I was instructed that one MUST switch to Apple Devices as iTunes is no longer compatible with any version of iOS 18. If that’s not the case, then that’s further misinformation that was spread here on MacRumors, which seems to be a running theme these days.

I wouldn’t mind switching back to iTunes if that were possible, it never bricked any of my devices in any of the years I’ve been using it. But so far nobody on MacRumors has demonstrated that either piece of software works for iOS 18+ installations.

👉🏻 My camera app crashes every time (the app windows turns black). It did this with iOS 18.0 and it still occurs with the latest update (18.0.1). It doesn’t matter if I use the new Camera Control or not.

I have the iPhone 16 Pro Max (upgraded from the 15 Pro Max). I’ve forced-restarted the phone multiple times. In fact, I typically force-restart every night after I check for app updates and perform the updates. I’ve been doing this for years.

I don't know what was wrong with my 15 Pro Max, but the battery life and heat vs. the 16 Pro Max especially after 18.0.1 was released is night and day difference.
