I'm reluctant to update because I hate the Photos app update, did they add a way in beta to remove the albums that are by default added to your opening page at the bottom? Can you just have a giant grid of most recent photos on the page like you use to now?
Once you de-select all the options on Customize & Reorder, it will look almost like what is on iOS 17 and older except no Days tab and Customize & Reorder button will be on the bottom part of the screen... There's also a two-way arrow beside Years, Months, All and a Close button [X] to the right...

Silly but if you dont see iOS 18 update but do see 17.7 scroll to the bottom

its a banner on the bottom separate from the main update window portion

it's been a nice release for me so far :) [same build as RC, loaded it on Saturday]

its good to update 15 pro first and then pickup the 16 pro on friday, or is better to wait until friday to feel “the full experience” or this affects recovering backup from 15 pro to 16 pro? its a genuine question

I was on the 18 RC beta, went back to "normal" non-beta updates and no further update for me today.

Crossgrades like to be of the same version so would say go to 16, but its still a bit of a guessing game.

I’m not sure if it’s just because I just updated or what but I’m getting weird placeholder icons on my Home Screen.

Did it ask you to free up space before doing the install?
Nope. I’ve got 180GB left of storage.

It is just on the Home Screen too. App Library is fine. Maybe I need to rebuild my desktop database?

I really don’t care about most of the new features in iOS18. But that’s been the case with most of Apple’s OS’s for the past five years or so. Still, improvements to the Messages app and RCS seem worthwhile.

I’m not sure that I’m going to like the new Photos app. It sounds like it’s going to decide how to organize my images in a similar manner as the App Library.

And, speaking of the App Library, it looks like iOS18 won’t allow us to delete it. Too bad. It was something I was hoping for.
