The main reasons I upgraded (IP15 Pro Max)

1 RCS - turns out it isn't supported by my Carrier (not Apples fault and they probably don't really care). So Currently unusable.
2 The hype surrounding the new Photos App - What a mess. it doesn't make any sense at all. Thankfully the macOS version is still usable.
3 Passwords App - Yay! Finally something I can use

1 out of three aint bad by Apples modern standards. Played around with the Home Screen customisations for about 5 minutes and just set it back to the default - it's a gimmick. Control Center seems a bit chaotic. I do like the App ordering in Settings. Much easier to find what you're looking for. iCloud+ page presented quite well but not sure about that Subscriber badge in the top corner - unnecessary. Require Face ID setting by App is useful.

In summary, the little changes make the upgrade worthwhile, but it could almost have been a dot release.

Unexpected (to me) benefit of the password manager app: you can *finally* see and "forget" Wifi networks that you previously connected to without being in range of the network. I was able to clean out more than a dozen hotel Wifi networks alone. :)
You could do that before by hitting the "Edit" button on the top right of the Wi-Fi settings screen.

Funny thing is I just discovered the edit button under wifi settings yesterday when I was on 17.6.1 I dont know how long its been a feature where u can look at all your wifis but I like it. I dont use the password app cuz I have everything written down.

I had a quick Google...looks like it was added with iOS 16.

Does anyone on iPhone 15 Pro Max have an iOS 17 vs 18 Geekbench, an hour or so after updating to 18?

iOS 17.6.1, 15 Pro Max

Nice to finally have a calculator app on my iPad, but where is Journal?

That's a shame. I'd most want to use the Journal app in the evening when I'm winding down for the day, and when I get home I put my phone on the wireless charger and use my iPad exclusively. I'm amazed Apple still haven't brought it across with iCloud syncing.

I Just bricked my ipad M4 bahaha

Tried to perform a clean ios 18 installation, thing just froze.

Freaking Apple now belongs to the toilet imo.

Update:

For those with bricking issues try:

Worked for me.

update: no it didn't (well it did partially) next step was to downgrade to iPadOS 17.

I'm excited about all the new customization options for the Home Screen, the overhaul of Control Center, and RCS support in Messages, which will definitely improve my texting experience with Android users. What are you most looking forward to trying out in iOS 18?

I was most looking forward to getting rid of the camera icon on the Lock Screen, which had a nasty habit of activating itself accidentally while in my pocket, thus turning it into a miniature heating device. After this update… success! I replaced it with a link to the calculator. Much less dangerous.

What’s the point of RCS? I’m testing with my husband and Tapback reactions still show up as “…loved an image”. UGH
