Looking forward to this, I get the occasional proximity sensor hiccup so this should get me patched up.

OMG I got 4.1 and now my T-Mobile wont work on the iPhone. How do I unlock 4.1? HURRY!

(LOL Just waiting for these threads)

Just finished on my 2nd gen iPod Touch. It's not a new device, but it's noticeably faster. Hopefully it stays consistent without any crashes. Haven't tried Game Center yet.

Not surprizing... it takes a lot of speed to take 3 pictures quickly. I wouldn't think 3GS would have the processing speed. (or a flash to adjust for darker settings), to capture 3 pics that quickly without introducing blur.

It's not a true HDR. It uses 1 photo, and post processes it.

That being said, it does a great job for a mobile phone, and a mediocre job if it was a desktop computer.

Keep in mind that HDR is really only advantageous on pictures that have areas of under or over exposure.

For those wondering, this is bit-for-bit IDENTICAL to the GM that was released last week. There is no need to download this if you installed the GM.

Confirmed. MD5 of the pre-release GM version leaked by developers last week and the MD5 of this one is the same (at least for iPhone 4):

Oh wow that logo looks terrible!

*runs off never to be seen again*

(thing is.. I dunno if it's some placebo thang or what but it does look terrible now even if before it might have been ok.)

Awaiting JC (the entity not the controversial phone unlock thing, much..)

I've connected my iTouch a few times and keep being offered 4.0.2. Does anyone know if I'll need to download and install 4.0.2 in order to be offered 4.1 or will I be able to jump straight to 4.1 when it is available (guessing it might be a different time here as I'm in England)? I assume I can just jump up but want to check :)

That's your problem. You are connecting an itouch. You should instead try to connect you iPod touch instead. You should get better results when trying to update.

Goood luck

YAY!!! My old 3G is actually usable again now that I have 4.1! :D

Games run smoother, opening the iPod app doesn't take forever and/or crash, opening the txt message thing is much faster, etc.

anyone else looking for

a fix for the iPhone 4 not working with 3rd party mics? My are eyeCandy FMJ buds and mic, and they don't work with my 4, but still work with a 3 or a 3GS.

I registered this as a bug (2 of us had the same problem), where any app that connects to the mic immediately seems to cause sound to be delivered in fits and starts, often as just a 'thwap' of sound (as if it collects for a period, can't figure out what to do [noise cancellation?], then just takes all the bits and sends them to the app in one poorly formed waveform packet (the 'thwap')).

call outs to anyone seeing the same and looking for a fix in 4.1...

Updates from any 3G owners? Anyone of the 3G owners here update to 4.1 yet? How much faster is it? Worthy enough to give up my jailbreak to get significant speed gains? Or is it only slightly faster? I been managing my 3G with sbsettings on my jailbreak. This allows me to kill off Mail, iPod, and the browser, which are running in the background and leaching the already limited memory that the 3G has. I also like that I can watch HIGH QUALITY videos on YouTube now over 3G mobile instead of it only working when on the WiFi.
So unless the speed gains by 4.1 are significant enough, I will hold on to my jailbroken snail.

2nd gen iPod Touch

Wow....iBooks is nearly useable now. Still lags, but I can open it and actually read something on the same day now. Who woulda thought....

Early reports indicate there is noticeable improvement but not huge performance gains.
Do you have to install 4.02 first or can you go straight from 4.01 to 4.1?
You should be able to go direct. Just let iTunes do the thinking. :p
