Proximity sensor still works like ass. It does not shut off if I slip the phone in my pocket, etc, causing things to get inadvertently selected.

You're pants pocket won't activate the proximity sensor, no one's will. Unless your pants are made of peoples' ears/faces. Then you have other issues.

Also, you shouldn't be getting any screen touch events in your pocket, since there's nothing capacitive in there...at least there shouldn't be anything capacitive in your pocket.

Use the lock button.

so from what i see, noone is having any problems. I seem to be the only one who's phone got thrown into recovery mode and had to do a full restore?

double click update

So it's almost like it was before iOS4?

Also guys, the update takes a bit to show up when you click "Check for Update" just keep hitting it every couples seconds.

Try double-clicking check for update. Crazy but it worked for me. It did nothing on the single click.

Put it in a different pocket.

iPod app still crashes on the 3G randomly. If you use the iPod app in the background the phone becomes very sluggish and almost unusable. Loading times for certain apps still > 20 seconds. SMS still takes years to load, etc.

Great bloatware. Thank you Apple!

I've had this installed on my 3G for nearly a day and the benefits aren't that great. Maps is quicker than before but everything else is just as laggy.

Had Osfoora and Facebook quit out on me while trying to launch them so it is still suffering major resource issues. Will probably go back to 3.1.3 when I've time.

So, uh, click the 'sleep' button before putting it into a pocket?
It would never occur to me to put a running device into my pocket, proximity sensor or none.

Don't know if it has been mentioned before, but 4.1 fixed the issue with the disappearing "Never" option in the autolock when using a Microsoft Exchange e-mail account. It's back.

sorry for the noobish question but where can i get this upgrade? i went on the apple site and it says its coming soon.

Handy Light still works great! (For those wondering)

can you use handy light for windows or does it only work for Mac? I have the app and I know how to turn it on, but I can't seem to get my computer setup correctly for an ad-hoc wireless network. I think it has to do with my work VPN.

Early reports indicate there is noticeable improvement but not huge performance gains.

You should be able to go direct. Just let iTunes do the thinking. :p

I would except itunes still thinks 4.02 is the latest.

Agreed. I had the same issue with my old 3G and had to return it to Apple. I'd put it in my pocket while listening to headphones with the screen turned off and it would change songs and what not like I was touching it. Return it.

Took nearly 3 minutes to download, rubbish ;) Then about 5 to install. Sort it out Apple! lol
