The only thing that can be said in response to comments like this is, "Get. A. Life." Interminable? Really? If you're over the age of 15 and saying stuff like that, you really should check your priorities in life.

They said November, and we're just past halfway through it. This is how software development works, and you can imagine the uproar if they released it with these bugs intact.

Definition of INTERMINABLE
: having or seeming to have no end; especially : wearisomely protracted <an interminable sermon>

Jesus Christ. Please just release something and THEN release the app / issue specific patches. I'm running 3.2 and don't have a dev account, and I can't stand these delays any longer.

Yes. Apple should screw everyone else because you can't be patient.

I'm getting sick of this waiting! If I can't put Angry Birds HD and Angry Birds Halloween HD in a folder named "Angry Birds Games" by this evening I'm going to flip the hell out!!!

Won't be a "delay" until December 1.

There's still plenty of time left in that window.

Actually, there's not. It's VERY unlikely that they do a release next week. It's funny that there is even a rumor that the update would come out the day before Thanksgiving. That's not happening. It's either today or the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

There is plenty of time for sure. But the fact is why announce something when you don't have the product ready. They have had some serious problems.

This is exactly why Apple hardly ever announces a product until it's ready to ship. However, with iOS releases they have to announce them early so that developers know what is new and have time to prepare their apps.

Yes, if screwing people means releasing a build that gets patched 3 days later and fixes issues for .001% of the user base.

2.1 probably fixes the VOIP issue and will be released as soon as the fix has been verified. I say tomorrow if not later today.

I hope this fixes the keyboard lag that I've been running into on 4.2 with my iPhone 4.

Apple waits to fix the bugs in dev releases: Can't win, they are making us wait too long.

Apple releases to the public with bugs: Can't win, they are releasing buggy code.

Didn't they release something right before Thanksgiving a few years ago? I remember going out of town for Thanksgiving and remebering to take my laptop so I could update my phone that night when I got where I was going.

Grow up and wait like everyone else. I personally have better things to do than wait. They will be releasing it when they feel confident it's ready to be released.

Hey hey hey Apple, isn't a master supposed to be _the_ final release?

No, otherwise they would directly release all Golden Masters without even seeding them to developers. It just means that they think that there are no bugs and that they have all the features they wanted working. But if they do find a problem, they won't release it.

I find it completely logical for Apple not to release a version that has known bugs. Especially ones that prevent you from using VoIP altogether.

Right, so you can then bitch when your WiFi is flaky or something? If you are that sick of 3.2 or anxious for 4.2 there are "safe" places to d/l the 4.2 GM -- one of which was heavily discussed on this very web site (do a search).

If you aren't the type to "risk" a beta then don't go nuts because a public releasable version isn't out yet b/c whatever Apple released prematurely would in effect be a beta. I'm certain Apple is double paranoid after the iPhone debacles.

Once again we got people complaining that this gold master release is not the fine one:eek:...we all get that...and we should be glad that apple is fixing all the issues that we care about before the final release. Apple is doing this right and people just need to be patient or get a dev account and get the gold master build.

You go Apple!

You go Steve!

Don't let the haters bring you down. Your stuff rocks!

What delays? Apple has committed to release iOS 4.2 in November.

Fair, but releasing it on November 30th isn't in the spirit of that commitment, and as other posters have pointed out, this patch may push the date until after Thanksgiving or later.
