Once again we got people complaining that this gold master release is not the fine one:eek:...we all get that...and we should be glad that apple is fixing all the issues that we care about before the final release. Apple is doing this right and people just need to be patient or get a dev account and get the gold master build.

You go Apple!

You go Steve!

Don't let the haters bring you down. Your stuff rocks!

Let's home this will fix the Wi-Fi problems COMPLETELY, and not partially like 4.2b! I'm stuck with 3.2.2 because 4.2 loses the wi-fi connection and 4.2b is just too damn slow under wifi...

Would the first one to try this be kind enough to tell me if anything has changed as far as WiFi goes? Thanks!

I'm getting sick of this waiting! If I can't put Angry Birds HD and Angry Birds Halloween HD in a folder named "Angry Birds Games" by this evening I'm going to flip the hell out!!!

May I come over and watch? May I make a video?

Didn't they release something right before Thanksgiving a few years ago? I remember going out of town for Thanksgiving and remebering to take my laptop so I could update my phone that night when I got where I was going.

For the iPhone? Not that I recall. It just doesn't make sense, not for a major release anyway.

Fair, but releasing it on November 30th isn't in the spirit of that commitment, and as other posters have pointed out, this patch may push the date until after Thanksgiving or later.

Spirit of the commitment? Huh? The commitment is November. What seance were you out where you were able to divine "November" means something different?

The spirit of what commitment? Suddently November 30th is now actually December 0?

Or are we to assume that when someone says "November" they mean Nov 1? The first half? Some-random-date-other-than-November-30?

The commitment windows doesn't close until the clocks read December 1.

I'm glad they fix problems before release....

The problem with Apple has always been these interminable release teases. Once again 4.2 is bogged down in apple bugs.

You're right! Microsoft would just release it with the known bugs. :)

I am really glad to see they are trying to iron out as many kinks as possible before releasing this. I'm a little curious why they chose to go to 4.2.1 and not just keep it at 4.2 with a different build number.

Can someone wiser than me tell me why they would add a .1 before the general release of .0?

Because otherwise you have:

iOS 4.2 Golden Master
iOS 4.2 Golden Master2-Final-version-promise.

Once you've named a build of a particular version the 'golden master', you can't really reuse the same term for another build of the same version!

Agreed, I said it since the day of the Press Conference, "it will be last week of Nov". I also said in multiple thread that they will be skipping 4.2 and going directly to 4.2.0.1 or 4.2.1 due to the Wifi bug on the 4.2GM (nobody believe me :( )

As MacMan said, Apple comply with ISO standards, once they released a GM, they cannot release another build as the same GM, they need to Rev the number.

You need to add PROPER V2 REPACK on there too.

Similar to if SJ had said you could fit a million songs on an iPod -- if each were all a fraction of a second. Technically true, but misleading.

Definition of INTERMINABLE
: having or seeming to have no end; especially : wearisomely protracted <an interminable sermon>

Thanks for the update on what interminable means... exactly what I knew it meant. What I said still applies. This does have an end (Nov 30) and you still need to get outside or do something else if you're weary over waiting for a software update that is 2 weeks from being late.

There is NO spirit implied with saying something is coming in November that means ANYTHING other than NOVEMBER.

November 30th is, wait for it....part of November!!!

Just because it isn't on the timeline that you'd like it to be on, doesn't mean that it "isn't in the spirit of that commitment". Indeed, it is not at all uncommon for Apple and other tech companies to announce a release month and then not release until the end of that month. That's just the way it works.

Now, when they said that they'd release in November, if you had immediately set your expectations on November 30th, then ANYTHING earlier in the month would actually be releasing it early, rather than seeing it as being delayed.

In short, keep it in perspective and context.

the rumor last week was that it would be released on Nov 24th, now with todays new GM release, that seems more plausible.
