Anyone else noticing the location services indicator is on permanently - the time zone setting is using it.
Doesn't explain the poor battery life on the iPhone 4 since iOS 5.0 (Same hardware)
There have been far fewer reports of this problem, my guess is people disabled a ton of things early on, forgot, updated, started new, reset all their defaults, now the battery life is worse than it was before.
...or rather, now they're just paying attention in greater detail, where as before, they just subconsciously accepted the battery performance without any real notice.
In general, us humans are pretty stupid beings.![]()
What if you enter both numbers for Joe? Not the best solution but it should work with either situation.No.
There is a caller ID issue in iOS 5 with specific Middle Eastern countries (for me specifically Kuwait).
Country code of Kuwait is +965.
If we store a number in our address book as say Joe and his saved number is +965 5555 5555.
Like in previous iterations of iOS if Joe called you inside the country it would only need to register 5555 5555 when the call is coming in. However iOS5 thinks +965 5555 5555 AND 5555 5555 are completely different numbers so it does not display the name of the contact calling.
This has been documented in the following places:

Try going to Settings>Location Services>System Services (at the very bottom)>Status Bar Icon. If that is ON, then the location services icon will be omnipresent, since the Setting Time Zone option always tracks your location (I find that a little creepy, so I have it off anyway).
Mine swings between 3 and 11% when idle, average load flattening around 1 for 1 and 5 minutes, 0.64 for 15 minutes. Can someone experiencing battery issues download 'System Status Lite' from the App Store and check to see what the CPU load is running at?
I had a problem with iOS 5 where Calendar notifications in Notification Center would constantly redraw when I had certain meeting invites that I hadn't responded to. My CPU was running at 80% and the iPhone 4S would get noticeably hot. I turned off Calendar notifications and it returned to normal and my battery life was back to where it should be.
There may be other issues at play here but your CPU should be idling around 5% in System Status Lite - if not something is running amok and it may be worth checking various settings to determine which one is causing the CPU to spike.
Running on iPad 2 and after the update my battery starts to drOp considerably faster. 1% per 5 minutes while browsing the web.
Nice! Now they can release the untethered jailbreak!

I'm in a conference so I can't test this... but can someone with a 4S give this a try: Activate Siri from the lock screen by holding the home button. Say any command or sentence. When Siri is done talking, press the home button again and unlock your phone. Is the volume of the unlock sound (and all other sounds) still ridiculously loud immediately after using Siri? This bug has been annoying me for almost a month.
