I did OTA update on my iPhone 4 late afternoon, and just did the OTA update on the iPad 1. Seems to have resolved my battery drain issues. And I like the new gestures on the iPad 1. I'm curious to see if it would function for work when I want to travel really light.

So I am trying to update it through my Verizon 4s, and it tells me that it is unable to check for updates. I am connected through wifi at home. When I try to do the itunes update, it says that the connection times out. Can anyone help me? I've turned my phone on and off, and reset my internet connection and it still will not work.

I don't know about others but I have never had problem using Sprint iPhone 4S. The best record I had is 3 days and 4 hours with 15% left. Actual usage time is around 3 hours. I turned off location service, bluetooth and wifi and only turn on them when needed. iCloud is on for everything except mail. I don't do push email only fetch manually. But even with location service turned on I can go easily one and a half day with moderate use.

For some reason, every few minutes, my phone asks for a password to two Apple IDs that are NOT mine. What is this??

Had this before. Open the itunes app on your phone and go to the downloads section (might of been the purchased section) and see if a bunch of songs are trying to download that can't.

If so. Find those sonds in iTunes and deleted them and reload them.

In my case I think it had to do with some albums I was messing around with iTunes Match with. Seems like after it got uploaded to iTunes Match it for some reason got associated with someones email I've never seen in my life.

My iPhone 4s was a lot worse with battery than my 4, but it seems this update has made it worse. From 9 am to 515 pm I was at 65%. This is with hardly using it a few sms thats it. Installed update and from 520 ish till 1140 now I've gone down to 39%, again just a few smses. So 8 hrs 35%, and now 6.5 hrs 25%.

On second though, maybe it hasnt gotten worse now that I count. But still worse than my 4 where all day usage would still end me up at night at around 60-70%.
Draining my battery now maybe a recharge will make it better.

battery in iPhone 4 vs. 4S

I have an iPhone 4 (not S) that has had battery problems since ios5 came out. I thought it was the fact it hit a wall and wasn't charging well and just a hardware issue.

From what I see, ios5.0.1 fixes battery problems with the 4S only. Was iOS5 doing battery tricks on anyone but me? Will it help battery issues with iPhone 4 (not S)? Could this be the thing I needed, or is my iPhone 4 battery just dying?

I'm the same, but my iPhone 4 is quite new still (< 6 months old). The battery drained a bit quicker with iOS5 to begin with, but it looks like with 5.0.1 it's draining even faster. Eep.

What if you enter both numbers for Joe? Not the best solution but it should work with either situation.

It breaks iMessage and when you roam (remember Kuwait is quite a small country so international travel is quite regular) it is inconvenient.

Don't know why Apple broke something that was working fine in the first place.

I´m getting better battery life so far with 5.0.1.
Usage: 25 min
Standby: 1 hour ,35minutes

Have been using safari, spotify, mail, weather etc. and still at 100%.
Looking good so far:)

Location service - on ( except timezone, iAd, trafic)
iCloud - on
Exchange account - on
Push - on
50% brightness
Siri - on
Facebook push - on
Wifi - on
3g - on
Notification center - all on

thought I'd update battery and I only added a reminder since last post and i'm now down to 69% - 10% gone.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I got OTA and I'm in Chicago. I posted my pic on MacRumors Facebook page. I can't seem how to attach a pic here using the mobile web version on my iPhone 4S.

I updated mine last night and charged it fully.

In settings, everything is on except push email and location services for iAds and Time Zones (plus that apps that don't need to know where I am like cut the rope)

Killed off all ads unplugged it and went to bed.

8 Hours later I get up, it's on 91% and has 24 minutes of (phantom) usage. Still getting lots of entries in the error log too.

I guess we'll have to look forward to 5.0.2 then as the phone is still using itself and draining the battery when locked.

Anyone know if this fixes the issues with iPad 1 running slow after upgrading to OS5?

9 % for 8 hours standby. I reckon thats not too bad. That equates to 100 hours of standby - and will include some email fetching I am guessing.

My iPhone 4S used 20% of the battery overnight - but I do have exchange push plus three other email accounts on fetch, plus whatsapp etc running in the background.

Just updated mine over the air - took 5 mins on a shared 100MB broadband connection (at work).

Seems to have been ok so far (touch wood) and for once hasn't erased my entire Music collection (which is often does)

Some tips:
Switch off various system services like automatic timezone and location-dependent iAds (using GPS all the time will drain the battery), switch off Push-eMail, if not needed switch off iCloud services (like e.g. backup).

Timezone settings still running

After I updated my iPhone 4 last night, I tried switch the Timezone Setting service back on.
Today I can see that the service is still constantly running
