Nice!

Do you know if there is an option to configure how many days in advance it shows?

Actually let me clarify because i may be misinforming you here. It's just showing Calendar events. What i meant by upcoming is say you have an event scheduled for Monday but have it set to alert you two days before that then the event pops up on Sat in Notification Center. i.e. you only get Calendar alerts not that it auto list all upcoming events. If that makes sense.

Also you can have up to 10 calendar items in Notification Center. Also the Calendar app is still hella buggy.

And you wouldn't be having these discussions if you read our posts :D

Is Wireless Sync Push, pull, or both? Meaning is it started client side (the phone), or Server side (iTunes) ? I don't have a DEV account, I am just waiting until the official release but am curious.

I have a powered iPod dock in my kitchen (near my door), so simply docking my phone near the door and being able to still sync (from my computer upstairs) would actually be nice.

Why? The entire point of wireless syncing is to do it without a cable, which is why it's called "wireless". If you have to charge it to plug it in, you might as well sync it on USB while you're at it.

I think the great thing with wireless syncing is that you have your device on your desk and all you need to do is press a button. No fiddling with cables, chargers and whatever.

A lot of people, myself included, charge their iPhone at night with the wall charger. In that case, it'll sync at night even though the iPhone and charger is in my bedroom, and the computer it syncs against is somewhere else in the house. I charge it nightly, but almost never bother to sync it.

And from what's reported, you can still press a button and sync it if it's not plugged in; plugging it in triggers it automatically.

You don't HAVE to have your iPhone charging when you do a wireless sync. It's just recommended you do as it could be a big battery drain. Which is probably why Apple delayed introducing it for so long.

So what you are saying is it is truly wireless sync and you don't have to have it plugged into a power source to sync?

That's correct. It is truly wireless sync. The reason they put the power source thing in, is so that when you go to bed it syncs, which is nice. And I guess it might sync sometime in the early hours so if you have a newspaper subscription, it's there when you wake up :)

Ah thanks Kariya!

I wish it had been the full list :(

Yup. You can do it from another room, not be plugged into and go into iTunes sync menu in settings and hit the sync now button.

Automatic is when it's plugged into a power source.

Thank you!!! I've been waiting for this for so long. Hate having to plug my phone in to sync after adding stuff in itunes. Plus apples usb cables are garbage so not having to mess with the cables so often makes me happy.

But you cant add new items onto your iphone thru the phone itself hence its only really good for syncing abck new purchases when out and about and a daily backup?

Probably the second best feature in iOS 5 for me after notification center.

How did you guys update your IP4 4.3.3 to iOS 5 beta 1 with iTunes 10.5 beta 1? Everytime I try to update, I get an error message. I get the 3002 error message. I'm tempted to download iOS 5 beta 2 with iTunes beta 2, but I don't want to if I keep on getting this error and wasting bandwidth.

Prob because beta 1 expired the moment beta 2 came out. Hence you cannot now install beta 1, must be beta 2 as Apple have stopped signing Beta 1

Restore, don't update.

Also, just go with Beta 2. You supposedly can't cross-beta iMessage anyways.

Music App Sorts by Album Artist

Don't know if anyone spotted this, but the Music app (previously iPod) now sorts the Artists section by 'Album Artist.'

For example, my (manly) Lady Gaga section no longer has 'Lady Gaga & Colby O'Donis' or 'Lady Gaga & Beyoncé', etc. It definitely makes the Artists list much nicer IMO.

I'm not a developer and I'm following the instructions posted on Giz's website. It doesn't say update, but rather restore. Are you sure?

Will I be able to install iOS5 beta 2 even though I'm not a developer and provided I can get a hold of beta 2 for both iTunes and iOS 5?

Yes, you can start the sync from your iMac. Once you turn on wireless sync, and your device is on the network, it appears as a device in iTunes whether it's connected or not.

Also you can do whatever you want on your device while it's syncing. It's completely in the background.

found the worst bug yet that stops me using a phone as a PHONE!!!

when i call people it sounds like its bubbling underwater - when that finally goes people cant hear me speak? i can hear them but they cant hear me?

and no i havnt dropped it or touched water with it!!!

I think you might be mixing up wifi sync and backup through iCloud.

Maybe I am.

E.g. I have my iPhone and want to sync an album from my iTunes library that is not on my iPhone, how would I do this without walking to my Mac as I guess you cannot choose from the phone itself"?????????

Okay guys, the syncing bug "Waiting for changes to reconcile" ... I'm convinced this is just an iTunes GUI bug now.

Mainly because, if you notice, the syncing "swirl" turns into an eject symbol next to the phone's name on the left when it's supposed to be finished, like normal. That display just never goes away. And there are no warnings when quitting iTunes anyway.

Ok, so I did a restore and finally got the phone to upgrade to iOS5 beta 1! However, when triple clicking the home button to bring the voice over and pressing emergency call to get the screen to switch, my three finger swipe didn't get the notification screen out. Now I can't figure out how to get to the phone screen. I'm effectively locked out of my phone. What can I do now?

In iTunes, it says it's unable to complete my activation as I'm not part of the developer program.

anyone else getting this message after waking up from standby (closed MacBookAir)?
Wifi Sync enabled, iPhone not connected via cable

You are aware if what a wi-fi network is I presume? In case you dont, if you need to sync an album not on your phone you'll need to sneak up on your mac while its not looking, jump in the air 3 times, and shout 'Allakazam' as loud as poss...
works for me anyway.

I dont seem to have the quick open icon for the camera anymore on the lockscreen... Wtf? Anyone else?
