Ringtones

Anyone else have ringtones that suddenly isnt supported by iPhone 4 ?

Mine were actually bought from the iTunes Store!

Why can't I get wifi sync to work.
Do I have to activate it somewhere?

Bricked? -> Solution

For all those whose iPhone 4 GSM got bricked with the beta 2:

You pro'ly tried to apply the update with XCode Organizer. Don’t.

Get the latest iTunes beta, put your phone into recovery mode and use iTunes to (option-)restore to the iOS 5 beta 2. Do this while booted into Snow Leopard, not Lion.

the option to remind about missed texts is gone, i keep getting the same alert about my missed text with no place to change it back to only alert once.

That analogy is really incorrect...

Why? The entire point of wireless syncing is to do it without a cable, which is why it's called "wireless". If you have to charge it to plug it in, you might as well sync it on USB while you're at it.

I think the great thing with wireless syncing is that you have your device on your desk and all you need to do is press a button. No fiddling with cables, chargers and whatever.

You have to connect your iPhone and enable the wifi-sync in iTunes. (iPhone/Summary)

might be a stupid question but ive installed latest dev and iTunes but when my iPhone 4 is plugged into my iMac I dont get a tick box for wireless synch - am I missing something?

You kind of lost me there, did you mean to say "If you have to plug it in to charge it"? If so, I get your point, wireless syncing isn't a great advantage if you still have to connect the wire once every couple of days to charge. However, for some people it's easier just to connect to a power outlet rather than have to connect to their Mac/PC.

Of course, when inductive charging is incorporated into the iPhone at some point down the line...

Anybody noticed if wifi on the iPhone goes into standby or is it always connected when wifi-sync is activated?

Hmmm, no problems upgrading and restoring the backup on my iPhone from my Mac, but upgrading iPod Touch via Windows (iTunes 10.5 beta 2) has completed but I don't appear to be able to access any backups to restore from. Anyone else experienced this with Windows?

EDIT: Rebooted the PC and the backups re-appeared.

How did you guys update your IP4 4.3.3 to iOS 5 beta 1 with iTunes 10.5 beta 1? Everytime I try to update, I get an error message. I get the 3002 error message. I'm tempted to download iOS 5 beta 2 with iTunes beta 2, but I don't want to if I keep on getting this error and wasting bandwidth.

You guys wouldn't be having these discussions if you read the release notes.

YOU DONT HAVE TO PLUG IT IN TO WIFI SYNC!

And you wouldn't be having these discussions if you read our posts :D

All we're discussing is that wireless syncing isn't so great when ultimately you still have to plug your phone in to charge it. In my case, I tended to plug my phone in TO CHARGE IT every other night, at which point it would also sync. Having wireless sync doesn't now mean I don't still have to plug it in every night so nothing changes for me. The only real advantages are that my sync will not not be up to 36 hours out of date and I can plug in to a socket rather than my Mac, neither of which are of any real benefit to me.

actually they're having the discussion because they misread the release notes. as there is a line that says about having to be plugged in to charge whilst wifi syncing, but it's taken out of context by people. it's actually in the part about automated wifi syncing.
