Can someone please help me? I'm locked out of my phone right now. Even after shutting off and restarting the phone, at the home screen when I triple click the home button to activate the voice over feature, pressing the emergency button doesn't do anything. All it does is just get the voice over feature to just say out emergency button. No matter how many times I press it, it doesn't do anything. iTunes is still telling me that it can't activate the phone. What can I do guys? I'm really stuck!

are you a dev?

if not, maybe you installed iOS5 from download links and apple locked you down?

not impossible to get back to 4.3.3 again but difficult.....

If I understand you correctly you want to change your iTunes Apple ID to your me.com Apple ID and it says you are trying to change your iTunes Apple ID to and Apple ID already in use. That makes sense. Also, you can not merge 2 Apple ID's into one. I think you are kind of stuck with what you are trying to do.

For me, my wife and I like to share our iTunes Account but nothing else so this is not a problem for me. We each have a MobileMe Account for all of our personal stuff (mail, calendar, contacts, etc) and we share the iTunes Account for Purchased items like Apps, Music and Movies.

However, at this point we are not allowed to upgrade our MobileMe accounts to iCloud because it is in Beta. Following link will be used once iCloud is out of Beta.

http://www.me.com/upgrade

also i assume you are using two macs (or PCs) right?

The context of my answer is related to iOS devices. We each have iPhone 4's and she had iPad 1 and I have iPad 2.

Not related but we have all iTunes content on my Mac. She has a Windows laptop but does not use iTunes on it and we disabled MobileMe Control Panel because she is no longer using Outlook.

So what are the odds that by release, wireless sync will allow you to wake a sleeping MacBook and sync, then sleep it again much in the way Windows starts to download listings for media center?

That would make wireless sync a super killer feature for me, as when I sleep I leave my mac in my bag ready to go to work. I know the new macbooks support WoWLAN.

Reverted back to 4.3.3. Beta 2 created some instability with some needed apps that worked in beta 1.

For those on the developer high horse I fully understand the intended audience for the betas.

SMS messages aren't showing on the lock screen like they did in Beta 1.

I've checked the Notification settings and it's set to "Show On Lockscreen".
My SMS notifications are working fine. Check your settings one more time.
Could anyone explain why my beta2 .ipsw is 856.9mb large (it works though)?
That's just the size of the update.
Why? The entire point of wireless syncing is to do it without a cable, which is why it's called "wireless". If you have to charge it to plug it in, you might as well sync it on USB while you're at it.

I think the great thing with wireless syncing is that you have your device on your desk and all you need to do is press a button. No fiddling with cables, chargers and whatever.
You can just put the phone on your desk and press a button. The iPhone automatically syncs when it is charging however you can press a button in settings to sync/backup whenever the iDevice is connected to wifi.

question how do you turn off the repeat messages for SMS (txt)

*never mind I found it lol its in the Settings>Notifications>Messages area just in case somebody didn't know how to turn that off

iTunes Wireless sync...meh

Ok, don't get me wrong, it is nice to not have to plug my iOS devices into my iMac, but if Apple really wants to bring in the post-PC era, the whole notion of syncing with iTunes should be scrapped. If I could buy 2-3TB of space on iCloud (like a virtual Time Capsule), and mirror my iTunes Library (Music, Movies, and TV Shows), then I would no longer need to sync with iTunes. Apps, iBooks, contacts, Calendar data, backups, Music, Movies, TV, everything on iCloud. That with PC-free setup, and iCloud backups is how things should be going forward.

People like my parents never sync with iTunes. They don't know how. I suspect they represent the majority of users. For them, wireless sync is a useless feature. They don't sync now, and they won't sync when it is over WiFi. Apple should eliminate the whole concept of "sync with itunes."

Has anyone noticed that there is no longer a double vibration when receiving a text message? It is back to the original single vibration.
Yes. Not a fan of this. With the double vibration you could tell if it was a text or email without taking your phone out of your pocket.

How are the iPad 2 owners getting on with beta 2? I installed 4 hours ago and so far it has not crashed once...on beta 1 it would randomly shut off. It seems more stable, had an issue in music app where it would jump and skip about,,,turning off EQ fixes it...though some album art is missing. FaceTime is not working, but that was in the build notes. How is everyone else's?

Thanks for your reply but I don't think you're experiencing the same thing.

When I visit a website with a video clip in it and click on the iOS big round play button, it goes full screen to the video clip and begins at the very beginning of the clip (as it should), but with NO controls available.

I cannot pause, forward, rewind, or scrub video. YouTube on the other hand has no issue. If i load up the standalone YouTube app (not visiting youtube.com web app), the video and audio controls appear the moment I load up a new clip as it always does (the placeholder controls while your video appears).

No video or audio controls when viewing streaming video on my iPhone 4 folks. iPad 1 is not affected.

Particularly nasty bug if you ask me.

I have the same issue on my 4 gsm

Sorry i was going off topic slightly what i was meaning when i setup my iphone i purchased all my apps and music under my gmail account, now i have a mac and a mobileme account (and icloud very soon) they won't allow me to change over to my apple related email address as it says account already in use, i hope this makes better sense now :)

you can still use your gmail as your apple ID and then in mail just add your mobileme account, therefore still being able to use your apps and music and access your mobileme email.

Also Apple have said in the transition notes that you will not be able to merge an existing seperate mobileme address into your existing Apple ID

So excited to update. Running the first beta has been hard on the battery, sluggish performance, many buggy behaviours.

But, enjoying a lot of the new features!

Does anybody else now have the problem where when in phone calls people can't hear you but you can hear them?

I would say that this is the point...

Without even thinking about syncing, they can plug their iPhone into the wall to charge and as long as their computer is running, it will sync for them.

I think for us 'heavy' users and the millions of 'moderate' users, this will really work well. There will still be a few who don't even use iTunes and in that case, they aren't missing anything anyway!

Yes. Not a fan of this. With the double vibration you could tell if it was a text or email without taking your phone out of your pocket.

I think it's because, now that you can set your custom vibration patterns, they want every vibrating notification to have the same default pattern. If you want a different pattern, just change it.

IOS restore to Beta 2 Help!

I'm unable to complete the restore to Beata version 2, using Xcode. The phone just hangs in recovery mode (blank, unresponsive screen)

When I go open itunes beta 10.5 beta 2 it restores it back to iOS 4.3.

Was using iOS 5 beta 1 without any probs previous. I am able to restore back to beta 1 using xcode and then restore from previous back up, just cant get iOS 5 beta 2 to install.

Anyone else have similar probs or have any ideas how to get around this?

thanks

As much as I'm loving iOS 5 some of my favourite apps just don't play ball yet but it's still early day for them to fix their apps
