Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 2 to Developers

How else do I upgrade to iOS 5 beta 2 then? No option to do it via itunes?

Yes iTunes, you hold option and press Restore, like tons of other people have done it or shift + restore in windows

Anyone else having problems with Emoji? They all work (on both sending and receiving phone) if I send from iOS 5, but if a friend with iOS 4.3.3 on a 3GS sends me them, half of the "smilies" dont work.

there was emoji problems back in beta 1, one of my friends using 4.3 couldn't get any of them, just a box, the other 2 using 4.3.3 got them fine. all 3 on 3GS

I think it's because, now that you can set your custom vibration patterns, they want every vibrating notification to have the same default pattern. If you want a different pattern, just change it.

After making a custom vibration pattern, I can't seem to figure out how to assign it to a certain app. I'm trying to assign it so just text messages (or imessages). Is there any way to do this?

I can't seem to paste in safari ......
I can paste into the Built in search bar in Safari, but if I try to paste into a web page box such as google translate, it just doesn't work .... Also tried many other web forums etc (including the box I am typing into to post this) and nothing ..l. So it looked like while the copy works, the paste doesn't inside web pages.

yeah, this screen is from b2, so im not really sure

i'm guessing the old emoji library and new one must have some slight differences in coding for some reason. weird! or just a beta glitch. As i said, i had the problem since beta 1, was hoping it would be fixed now. am sure it will be fine in final release

CalDav calendars broken?

Using iOS 5.0 beta 2 on my CDMA iPhone 4, I am having problems with my CalDAV Google Calendars. Using Beta 1, they worked perfectly. On Beta 2, it only appears to want to sync the "Default Google Calendar." It won't sync the other calendars.

Anyone else having issues with CalDAV?

One problem I've found is when you are the bottom of a page, in safari for example, and swipe down the notification centre, as you swipe past the bar at the top, it registers it as a touch and brings your page back up to the top. Probably already been mentioned

Is anyone having issues with album art in Music.app on iPad w/ beta 2? It's showing the same album cover for about 2/3 of my music. I tried wiping all the music from the iPad and re-syncing it all. Twice. And it didn't work. I took a screenshot and filed the bug report with Apple.

I just click the X to terminate the sync. By then it's already finished syncing.

It's pretty bizarre they rolled out WiFi Sync in this update but still left it so buggy.

BTW, from reading the release notes, it sounds like future beta may be delta updates?

ip address: 192.168.0.5


iPhone 5.0 (9A5248d) on an 3GS
ip address 192.168.0.6

"Sync over Wi-Fi connection" checkbox in iTunes is enabled and the phone syncs via USB.

When I unplug the USB cable in iTunes, the iPhone disappears under "Devices".

On the iPhone, when i go to "Settings" "iTunes Sync", the "Sync Now" button is grayed out, with a message "Sync will resume when "Arkie" is available.

Thoughts?

How are the iPad 2 owners getting on with beta 2? I installed 4 hours ago and so far it has not crashed once...on beta 1 it would randomly shut off. It seems more stable, had an issue in music app where it would jump and skip about,,,turning off EQ fixes it...though some album art is missing. FaceTime is not working, but that was in the build notes. How is everyone else's?

I still got the random shutdown problem overnight on my ATT ipad2 64gb... (restarts by the power+home reboot).

Anyone having issues with activation for facetime and imessage for their phone number? Mine seems stuck on waiting for activation... Worked flawlessly on beta 1.

It's in the release notes that FaceTime has been temporarily disabled in this beta, and will be restored in the next one.

Close iTunes and reopen it. If that doesn't work reboot.

My calendar notifications won't go away. I'm not sure why. There is no "x" in the corner to make them go away. So far it seems much snappier than b1... and b1 was amazing. So far so good. I found that if you started typing in Message app, then want to scroll up the previous texts... you can scroll in the text area.. but hold down and while holding down.. scroll over the text keyboard to make it go away. I don't know if that is new.. but it's something I've wanted for a long time! (if it's been here for forever... I'm gonna feel like an idiot)

I read somewhere that having Banners turned on for Mail would cause this problem. I was experiencing it with Beta 1, where my iPad 2 would not wake up from sleep and would require a hard reset. Once I turned off banner notifications for Mail, the problem went away. Perhaps they haven't fixed this one? Of course, your issue could be unrelated....

This happens irregularly, both tethered and wireless. As everything else works flawlessly, I'm considering this a bug.

Give it a day or two. Generally on the first day of installs of new firmware the system isn't sure of the battery capacity.

Only on the lock screen. Every other menu, you still get the same ol' blue.

Not sure about notifications to be honest as I have mine set to just show the top bar. Not the old blue popup.
