I think they need to get more mentions of the word 'iPhone' into those first two sentences, in case people aren't sure what this is for.
If you don't want to see that a new iPhone software version is available for your iPhone 'iPhone 5' and you can update your iPhone, you can go to General -> Settings -> Software Updates on your iPhone 5 to download an Update app that adds an iOS Updater icon on your homescreen. When you click on it, it enables the OTA software Update on your iPhone 5 so that you can now Update through software Updates ;)

Just because fb crashes coincide with the apple's release of 6.0.1 doesn't mean its because of the update... I'm still on 6.0 and fb crashes seconds after opening it. However, I think the problem has been resolved. My facebook app hasn't been crashing like it was a couple hours ago.

Not trying to defend Apple or anything. Just saying

I'm in the same boat. Had problems with Facebook not loading or crashing before the update. Now, no problems.

I hope they fix the annoying facebook birthday calendar showing in notification center, and telling me that I have conflicting calendar events wen I turn birthdays off.

Seems that they reduced the cellular download size in the app store to 50mb on Verizon, previously it was 500mb. iPhone 5.

what does the iPhone dev team say is it safe to download or should we avoid it for a possible jailbreak later down the line???

Always good to not upgrade if you want to jailbreak. Lower iOS version=more vunerabilities (for the most part).

I bit the bullet and upgraded my iPhone 5. No facebook crashing so far. It seems I've had more cell signal issues than with my iPhone 4... hoping this update fixes that.

I've not been able to connect to my wifi at work since ios6, will this hopefully fix that issue? I have an iPad2, I see the the iPod & iPhone are mentioned but not the iPad.
Thanks!

Battery

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but when I upgraded to iOS6, battery drain has been worse on my 4S. Did anyone else have the same issue.

I just hope this update helps it.

Verizon iphone5

Facebook not crashing
App store does not crash when going to genius or purchases

Same here! Can't reproduce these issues on my iPhone 4. No issues at all. Fb works as does the App Store. I never seen to experience any of these issues. Maybe I'm lucky.

iOS 6.0.1 is just as smooth for me as 6.0 was.

So did they "fix" it?

I was and still am experiencing the crashing app store on iOS 6 and I am using an iPod Touch 4th gen. It seems this particular issue is limited to that device as hardly any iPhone users have been mentioning it.

My iPod Touch had been painfully slow at everything since updating to iOS 6 (just pressing "settings" meant waiting up to 30 seconds staring at a blank screen before it would actually go to settings!) and I never regretted any update as much as that one. But I finally got it to a more useable state by restoring and setting up as a new device, rather than from a back up. The app store still crashes but at least I can use the device again without my tea going cold.

Of course, now I have got most of the functionality back, I am reluctant to upgrade to 6.0.1 in case it messes it up again. Once bitten...

I don't know if they "fixed it", I assumed that it was a problem with my 4th gen iPod touch as I didn't have those problems running the iOS 6 beta on another 4th gen touch (though to be fair the "Purchased Apps" feature wasn't active during the beta; still the other issues I experienced weren't present then and there), and I had Apple replace my touch under warranty. Thereafter I sold it to buy a 5th gen, so I have no clue if they fixed it. Bummer though, it sounds like the 4th gen could've gotten the shaft (in terms of publicized performance) this release.

Well that was a good update. It deleted all my locally stored music  !! I see iTunes Match is still a hot mess too

Ever since iOS6 I am afraid of updating anything. Before iOS6 I was interested in what I get for updating, now it's more about what I lose for updating and minimizing the damage that the upgrade incurs.

This is exactly why I chose to not update any of my devices to 6.0.1 and probably won't. I've gotten to a point where I almost just don't care anymore. Seems like there is always something that's going to go wrong these days with every new update or launch.

Hmmm. My iPad updated in about 10 minutes including restart, but my 4S has been stuck on 'Preparing update' for two hours now :(

Lots of talk about battery performance; for me a drastic improvement in both battery performance and signal strength. Hope it's the new update and not a new transmitter.
