They are all on i-m-z-d-l - I'm downloading a torrent link right now. I'm not a dev.. so I hope I don't brick my phone.

I just bricked my 3GS with their IPSW... be careful with that website. Anyone know where I could find a good image of iOS6 to restore my phone? PM me... many thanks.

Played with fire... got burnt

Strange. I used them for all of the previous betas from 4 on and they always worked. Just make sure the download wasn't corrupt. I have had that happen before (even from Apple).

MD5s (from the Apple Dev site ipsw)

iPhone 4 GSM: 7323c6b0bac1a367d1ae59b2897b7e89
iPad 2 WiFi (2,1 the older one): a0e685753cd7e49c8717d3947ece258a

I'm stuck with a "connect to iTunes" screen... even though the whole upgrade process looked to unfold flawlessly...

What's the MD5?

I'm downloading the DMG now, I'm guessing I just do a custom restore in iTunes. Where does the MD5 come in?

how exactly does that work? how can I make one? not fake ones
An example would be someone buying you a gift card on Starbuck's website and the site emails you a link which when tapped asks you if you want to keep a pass for the gift card.

Or an airline boarding pass is sent to you which includes a link to download it into Passbook.

Since iOS 6 hasn't officially launched no retailer will provide passes yet.

it's a cryptographic hash of a file.
just open the terminal app and type in: md5, hit space, drop in the downloaded file and hit enter.
wait and you will get the numbers.

whooops.
Got it installed after re-restoring the phone with the downloaded IPSW.

I was honestly feeling I was a dick. It is 2:30 am here and I don't have anything else than my phone to wake me up tomorrow morning to go to work. I was already looking for alarm clock apps on the Mac App Store...
Sounds like a good lesson - dear friends, if you need your phone on a daily basis, wait one more week and upgrade as per normal process, with normal customer support if anything turns wrong...

now I understand thank u very much!

So i did the md5 check with terminal and the numbers match.. So that means everything should be good, correct??

Sorry, but we are not allowed to share the link to such files.
Try asking your friend Google, maybe something like "download ios 6 gm imz".

He may not be as rude as I am, and may actually tell you something useful.

Having iOS6 be good to go with a 3GS phone and not the first-gen iPad is a pretty serious FU from apple.

For a 500 dollar plus device to go from introduction to "ready for the landfill" in less than a 1000 days is pretty sad.

the hardware can't take it. The original iPad barely has enough RAM to run iOS 5, so imagine running iOS 6... it would be unbearable...

You BRICKED your device by updating iOS? I really doubt that.

Anyone figure out how to convert an @me.com address to an @icloud.com one as was mentioned a while back in one of the betas? Haven't been able to figure it out yet...
