It works now for me!

It worked for me in Los Angeles.
After hooking up my iPhone to iTunes and clicking "Check for updates" like a madman, the opportunity to download the update finally appeared. Downloading and installing as I type:

Resatr itunes in order to download

If you receive that the iOS 5.1 is the latest version, you need close and open again itunes to iOS6 upgrade shows in your update status. Cheers... already downloading

Connect to wifi...

Many of you are saying it isnt showing you an upgrade available. Mine didn't show one either until i connected to Wifi. Connect and then run the check... it worked for me, maybe it will work for you too. Enjoy!

Joy has returned!

There seems to be a randomness about this whole thing. I don't show an update on my iPhone 4S or iPad 2, but a coworker (same carrier and wifi network) has it available on his iPhone 4 (and he doesn't even want it yet since many features don't work).

Is there an interval between checking? My iPad doesn't even seem to check when I select software update. Just tells me it's up to date (with a seeming disdain for my plight).

Downloading on my iPhone 4S right now! Yay!

I love having a 100Mb Internet connection

Both my iPad and iPhone are nearly complete.

Download time went from 30 minutes to 46 to 60 minutes as more and more people began to download it... haha

Mine's had 1 minute remaining for about 5 minutes now

Edit: Ouch, just jumped up to one hour

Edit 2: just dropped to 12 minutes

Edit 3: Back down to 1 minute again

Edit 4: Finished downloading after 7 minutes.

My download takes about 5-10 minutes, but I'm behind a T3 (or something similar); that is kind of low for a bandwidth of several GBits

This does not seem to be a "delta update". It's downloading the full 900MB image.
