No iPad One support?! WTF?!

It has more powerful hardware than the 3Gs, so why is it not supported? Because Apple wants to push the sales of the Mini they are about to announce? F... this :(

Also, Maps should have been an option, instead of forcing an inferior product down our throats. F... this, too :( :( :(

The iPad 1 has essentially the same specs as the iPhone 4 (including screen resolution). I'm totally shocked Apple are dropping it this early. It's a business decision and no other.

People have a right to be angry about this - people are often sold iOS devices by telling them they'll get updates where they wouldn't with an Android device. The iPad 1 is just about 2 years old! It's still under AppleCare! Not everyone is flush with cash to give to Apple; they screwed over their original iPad customers here.

Ios6 at the moment seems okay, oh that maps what a croc of ****! I asked for directions and gave me a couple impossible route - one route I'd have to drive through some one's back yard! Seems like I'm staying with Navigon. I need confidence that the navigation is correct, Apple Maps doesn't give me that.

If apple are going to replace maps then make it usable.

Do not disturb is a good idea - some other smartphones have had this in the past. Having to turn this on / off from Settings is inconvenient. Why not a short cut from elsewhere, such as Notifications?

You are going to subsidize a new phone whether you like it or not at least if you are in the US on the major carriers that have the iPhone so might as well buy the new one when your contract runs out.

Yeah, I know. I'm likely getting the iPhone 5 when my contract lifts in another 5 months. It doesn't keep me from feeling a little ticked off about the whole situation, though. There's no point to it, other than getting people to upgrade.

It's not exactly what I'd call "customer friendly", which is supposedly what Apple is all about.

You don't understand. It's already downloaded, did that relatively quickly. It took its time "preparing update" then switched to the black screen with slowly moving grey progress bar, then restarted (I guess?) and is now back at another screen with an empty progress bar. It has just been sitting there for a LONG time now. Forty minutes, I guess? Maybe longer.

Yikes. I ran into trouble downloading OTA so I'm back at work with my phone plugged into iTunes.....sorry brah!

...
Apple no longer sells the iPad 1 but until last week they sold the 3GS.

So? How is this a justification?

Apple doesn't sell the Mac Book Air 2011 either, but as long as the hardware supports it, we all expect that OS updates will work.

Apple has simply gotten too big and too greedy. Legacy hardware support was what was the main difference between Apple and Samsung, but now it seems Apple is going the same route.

The iPad One is two and a half years old and it has plenty of power to run the new iOS. The only reason it's not updated is because some bean-counter at Apple decided that by withholding the OS update, they'll try to boost the sales of the iPad Mini they'll announce next month.

I have the iOS Gold standard from last week...will my update still come through officially from apple?

Never gotten the pre-release version before so I am new to this game.

Dumb question (sorry) - how do I try out the flyover feature on my ipad (3rd gen). I don't see any button to press in the maps app and I'm in London?

I for one am looking forward to it too. ;) But: Is it possible to sync some music to the device via iTunes and still stream the rest of your library via Match? In iOS 5 it's either syncing or Match, but not both.

You can download some of the songs via match and stream the rest. Probably what I'll do so I have my favorites playlist available even offline.

I don't think you can sync via itunes AND stream from match. Why would you?

You cant go fullscreen by turning it 90 degrees to landscape?

I've got an original AppleTV (720p). It played full-screen video with the old app, and from websites. The new Youtube app wants you to do mirroring for airplaying any video. That means you get a tiny little square in the middle of your television, again with the pulsating blue bar at the top.

That also means you can't browse for the next video as the current one is ending (it's mirrored).

Massive degradation of the user experience. Apple would never ship an experience that awful. Google clearly have lower standards.

I'm not saying its justified. I'm just giving you the reason. Also you can't compare iOS and OS X update paths.

While this is true, and I am an iPad 1 user, Apple products DO still get better updated then Android/Samsung devices. But I mean, if you wanna go switch to them because of their updating cycles, go ahead :p

Just finished the OTA update. Got me nervous as it did take a while to get past the "preparing update" but after that is was smooth sailing. So far it seems nice. I like the small things but also the Facebook integration along with the Twitter that was all ready there.
I just wish I was looking at this on my new iPhone 5 instead of just my 4. Oh well just have to wait.

I'll quote myself here. Any way to change this back to the way it was?

The menu bar color is generated automatically from averaging the pixel color of the top few rows of an app. In a sense, Apple chose immersion over cohesion. It should be a nice indicator when moving around from app to app helping you know where you are.

I don't think there's an option to change back to iOS5 style.

EDIT: I was a little off. Here's the full explanation: http://blog.maxthemes.com/post/25149798543/how-the-adaptive-status-bar-in-ios6-determines-which

Has anyone had luck getting Passbook going? I go to hit the App Store link within the app and it just says "Cannot Connect to iTunes Store"?
