iOS ota done!

Not sure if this has been noticed already but my 4S, now toting iOS6 on Orange UK now shows 'EE' as the carrier (Everything Everywhere).

May be something to do with the fact that Orange UK (EE) is the first to roll out a 4G network in the UK?

That happens a lot. Depends on the shipping carrier. I wouldn't worry though. My (r)iPad showed the same thing, but arrived right on time. Took the day off from work to wait for it :D

Thank you! I've never gone the pre-order route before and was getting pretty nervous haha

Update is stuck for 30 minutes now on the second -Apple Logo- progressbar (empty) on my iPad 2 :(
Same here, on "new iPad". I'm trusting that something install-related is going on behind the scenes, but this is NOT how you garner user trust, Apple. Just put a slowly moving bar, or an estimated install time, SOMETHING so I know it's still alive. I hate to say it, but this reminds me a lot of installing Windows.

If I clicked download only where does the file go and how can I put it on another computer to install in on my iPhone and iPad?

You've got tens of millions of people all frantically trying to update their OS....give them a break. It'll go through, patience young padawan.

It's moving!!! After 40 minutes of absolutely nothing, to something :)

This is not server related, since the data is already downloaded by this moment

Installed on my retina iPad. Hrmmm..... no Youtube?

Yes, that's no longer included. Google now has its own YouTube app in the App Store. It's better than the one that Apple included, except that it now includes ads.

Download took about 5-10 mins. Preparing update at least half an hour, then about 25 mins for the software to install.

Maps is far better than I was expecting. The 3D view on satellite in the country (UK) is now a much better option than google's satellite. Quite like the regular plain map too. I did notice that a couple of times there was no good detail, ut then it seemed to load fully, and looked great.

The app store seems worse at first glance and my worry that they'd design things for the taller screen of the iPhone 5 has transpired because now on the 4S you don't get quite as many apps showing as before. The scrolling was often jerky too, which is an unwelcome addition.

The black menu bar in Safari at the top I don't like either, but no biggie. I do like full screen in landscape but would rather have it in both.

The photo app is a big improvement. It's now much easier to see the main shoot button or whether your in video or camera mode.

Just tried panorama, it's excellent.

I feel your pain on maps, but lets just hope google gets their stand alone maps app in the store with a quickness! Or apple just overhauls maps in a big way, not seeing that happen for a while.

I was using Google Maps on my iPad the other day. I would ask it to map to a location, which because it is an awesome application, it would find very quickly. However the actual mapping pointed to a nearby sponsored link. So when I asked it to show me to a route to a golf course, it first showed me a route to a nearby hotel which was a "sponsored link". I had to change the route to the golf course which it had found.

Anyway, I think Google Maps will be available quickly. I also think that without Apple's competition that Google Maps would get over run with too many ads and other means to extract revenue. Apple is a little more straightforward in how it gets my money, first an expensive item and then a dongle of some sort for $30. Having the Apple Map option is probably going to be a good thing. I can always access Google Maps through the browser.

Instantly regret upgrading..the rotation on my iPad 2 has pretty much stopped working properly.

This is kinda taking forever.. Failed once and now taking its sweet time the second go around.

Overall, it took 30 minutes through iTunes. I have an iPhone 4.

Not really a fan of the slate and grey-blue theme. It's so cold looking.

I do like that I can tweet from the notification center and Do Not Disturb button. Safari is faster, but I'm sticking to Chrome, for now.

As for Maps, is the Public Transportation option not working yet? It just gives me a list of apps that I can use instead.

You don't understand. It's already downloaded, did that relatively quickly. It took its time "preparing update" then switched to the black screen with slowly moving grey progress bar, then restarted (I guess?) and is now back at another screen with an empty progress bar. It has just been sitting there for a LONG time now. Forty minutes, I guess? Maybe longer.
