Me, too, but I think you just have to keep agreeing, and trying again. Almost complete on iPhone, but have to keep restarting on the iPad.

The really annoying this about this (I'm getting it on both my devices right now too) is that it doesn't seem to be picking up where it left off, it seems (correct me if I'm wrong) to be starting over each time - how incredibly inefficient, but perhaps there's a credible reason it's doing this??

Yup, it completely restarts the download. Mine was about 50% complete before it failed, and now I can't even connect. It's been estimating a download time for the last 10 minutes.

Well, got iOS, but now it won't activate.

Just keeps saying 'could not activate iPhone because activation servers are temporarily unavailable'.

Why do they never learn?

Just a reminder, there isn't an "apple server" for this - apple uses a content distribution network via Akamai, I believe. It's likely that the update is still propagating out through their system.

I was picturing a huge room with steam rising from the servers and apple employees running around screaming.

The truth is less exciting

My iPhone 4 has laboriously been "Preparing Update" for the past 15 minutes. It is the little phone that could!

Update has failed for me twice already while downloading.

Went from 1 hour to 2 hours to 43 minutes to 20 to 12 minutes then failed

started again was at around 15 min failed again

started third time ,said 12 min now jumped back up to 1 hour

Success. Started dl'ing at 12:58PM EST and took around 10 mins to download, 20 mins to prepare update. My phone is currently rebooting. Needless to say, I believe I was very lucky to be one of the first to past the gauntlet...

I've had the download error out ~10 times. Each time it downloads, gets to about 1 minute left and then errors out. So frustrating but it's first day problems. Happens every time.
