This is literally the best stand up ever (well I think it's tied with Chapelle's one he did in DC years ago).

You cannot update OTA from a beta to the final release. You should've installed the GM previously. You can only move to the final release via iTunes on the computer.
Apple always worries about selling as much iPhone's and iPad's as possible
but when it comes to updating XXX million devices, it's such a pain in the A-SS
You could just wait a day or two to update, couldn't you?
Tried downloading it twice over-the-air, both ended in errors. Tried downloading it via iTunes five times, the previous three said I didn't have permission, the fourth ran into an error.
Looks like the Xcode update isn't having that issue, though.

It's installing right now on my 5 from over-the-air-update. My Ipad 3 keeps giving the software update failed message.
What do you expect from an article like this? 630+ posts in about an hour, mostly updates on individual attempts to download this thing
Don't even think about coming over and snagging my little bit of WI-FI at Starbucks..... I am already getting looks from people for hogging all the bandwidth!

As others noted, once I recycled power on my iPhone5, it tells me I've got an update available.
HOWEVER: when I attached it to my iTunes 10.7, it says an iOS update is available but it requires iTunes 11.1 - !!!!
So we're being forced into a version of iTunes that we may not want? What if I don't care about all the new features in 11?

Finished on my daughter's iPod Touch 5! I like it so far... I just can't figure out how in the hell to force-close apps now
Backup your phone using iTunes (to your computer not iCloud). Unplug your device and turn it off. Hold down home button and plug it back in (this puts it in restore mode). Click restore and accept all the stuff. Voilà!
