Really enjoying iTunes Radio. Favorite feature of iOS 7, along with control center.

Agreed...pretty slick interface...playing decent tunes! Click in the "i" at the top and you can modify hits versus "discover", etc. Nicely done.

No comedy channel I could find....

Can't get past Apple activation on my phone... Been stuck with an unusable device for about an hour.

So after being stuck not being able to activate (I successfully downloaded, but couldn't activate/start installation) it is working.

It took almost an hour and I tried every five minutes, and it would error every time. It's finally installing. So maybe it's just luck, but it'll eventually work. :)

Keep on trying!

Longtime Apple user here... this update is killing me! This UI is a travesty. If ever there was an indication that Tim Cook doesn't look at anything his team does, this is it. Jonny Ive did his thing and nobody told him it looked ugly and violated almost every tenet of good UI design. It's crowded, garish, and unusable.

Buttons are now just text with no indication of what you are supposed to touch... folders are almost invisible... animation jerks and stutters... phone dial screen is all white... everything feels more crowded, especially when using Messages... icons look like they were created to appeal to 8-year olds... Calendar is a huge mess - no idea where to look or what to touch.

So this is what Tim Cook has been working on for two years?

I was excited to see the update, but held off this time to see how other's were weathering the update.

Seems for every 20 posts about bricked phones, slower speeds, battery drains, confusion with the UI, difficulties reading, etc. there's only an very rare post that it went well and the user is happy.

At first I figured a large portion of the negative posts would be due to servers getting slammed and users not taking to change well, but after reading through about 15 pages of postings, there are just far too many negative experiences to blame resistance to change, etc.... I think I'll sit out IOS7 for as long as possible.

Where are all the folks who had no problem, love the new look, and can attest to some kind of increased performance or better battery life?

I can only dream about getting past the "Verifying update" stage so that I can experience slower speeds, battery drains, or even a bricked iPad or iPhone...

I think a lot of people did. The new pastel look is horrible. Looks like the easter bunny puked all over the phone. All I want is a men's version of the os. Is that too much too ask?

Haha, does iOS 7 offend your masculinity? Insecure much?

After updating ios7 with today's update,
I reseted the iphone and it cam get through the activation...
It says it can't access the apple server and to try again later...
Does anybody knows if all activation servers are down?

I'm going to guess the activation servers are DOS'd.

I pity those folks who are buying a phone today trying to get their new phones to work while in a store somewhere...

Ouch, rough review. Still waiting for mine to install.

IPHONE 4S USERS:

A little update. iOS 7 is now running really SNAPPY on my iPhone 4S! Steps I have taken:

*restarted
*reset all settings
*completed a new backup
*disabled background app update
*re-arranged menu screens (I had an extra one with only one app)
*restarted

It started out being very sluggish and it´s now super snappy, so don´t give up on it! :)

When trying to activate through itunes via the cord or WiFi, I get "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The network connection was reset." Feels like 1994 again with not having my phone bothering me :)

Anyone else get this error. I'm in an extended network with verizon and activation is always a super pain in the ass. I drove 30 minutes to a verizon tower to activate as usual. But I guess with **** os7, It has to have a wifi connection or itunes connection to activate. F'n fantastic! Which moron at apple thought that was a good idea...

OMG... vast majority of those icons are just horrendous... I can't believe that game centre icon is the real one.. I though that was proof that most of them were just temporary filler icons, but nope.. and the settings icons is equally bad.. this needs to be corrected pronto... SO BAD!!

Thanks for the tip on disabled background app update.

Updated one iPhone 5 with little difficulty. Trying to update iPad now with constant permission errors. Restart of host Mac solved that. But now progress bar shows 25 hours remaining. Guess everybody has the same idea.

The UI is worse than I imagined from the pre-release screen shots. The lack of contrast makes items difficult to distinguish. Maps still is not showing public transit info and schedules like Google Maps.

I hope Tim Cook is a short-term CEO. Maybe then we will see renewed Apple innovation, cutting-edge useable UI's and more important for those of us heavily invested in Apple, a return to those $700 levels.

It offends my sense of taste. Unicorns and rainbows don't threaten my masculinity, but I don't want them on my home screen.

Seriously, it looks like it should be on the cover of a 12yr old girls trapper keeper.

And that is your opinion. Some of us are happy with it, but I took the time to read about the new features and how to use them unlike a majority of the whiny posts on this thread.
