Updated to iOS7 and was in and running my phone. Decided it would be a good idea to erase all data and factory reset as a new phone.

Bricked.

"Could Not Activate iPhone"
Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting...blah...blah..blah

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Wow. It hurts my eyes. Seriously. Puke.

False. It's awesome and a MUCH needed makeover.

Apparently you don't know what bricked means. All it's saying is it can't reach the iTunes servers right now, which is the same problem we're all having (overloaded servers). Keep trying and it'll work.

OMG... vast majority of those icons are just horrendous... I can't believe that game centre icon is the real one.. I though that was proof that most of them were just temporary filler icons, but nope.. and the settings icons is equally bad.. this needs to be corrected pronto... SO BAD!!

This has indeed been the standing overall opinion throughout the beta period. I think they will be quickly polished now when there are more ppl tht will complain :)

I never take chances with this kind of thing.

First I update iTunes to 11.1 (the new version that came out today). Then I plugged in my phone, did a sync/backup, then downloaded (just download, not install) iOS 7. Then I did a restore to ensure that everything is completely fresh.

Call me paranoid but I'd rather not take any chances.

I might actually try that myself. Whenever a new version of osx is released I usually upgrade first get used to it, then wipe my mac and reinstall it clean, then install apps, then pull docs and data out of time machine then start all over again with a fresh clean backup too.

IPHONE 4S USERS:

A little update. iOS 7 is now running really SNAPPY on my iPhone 4S! Steps I have taken:

*restarted
*reset all settings
*completed a new backup
*disabled background app update
*re-arranged menu screens (I had an extra one with only one app)
*restarted

It started out being very sluggish and it´s now super snappy, so don´t give up on it! :)

Have it on iOS 7, no problems, really enjoying it, but disabling background app update is a good idea

It offends my sense of taste. Unicorns and rainbows don't threaten my masculinity, but I don't want them on my home screen.

Seriously, it looks like it should be on the cover of a 12yr old girls trapper keeper.

As soon as I saw the menu screen I smiled! I loved it: so colourful! I had seen youtube videos of it and did not like it much but in person it´s a whole different thing. Really colourful and happy. I love it! Some of the apps are too grey and white for my taste though...I hope they one day change them a bit.

An hour to get past "verifying", but finally installing. Patience required.

Same here. Although my wife's took a little less time and she even called the dentist. The download takes a long time, but that's probably okay. It's the actual install where your phone is OOS that needs to be quick (It gets a C from me, took about 7 minutes).

Can someone please rehost the .ipsw files somewhere? I've been unable to load the 4S one for over three hours now (iTunes and the direct links to Apple posted here, no OTA because my WIFI is dead) and redistributing the load might help more people than me.

Option + Click on "Restore" button. You can select the recent .ipsw you want to install.

That only works while Apple is signing that firmware. Apple will stop signing iOS 6 very soon, likely tonight or tomorrow, at which point you cannot downgrade and must use iOS 7.

Longtime Apple user here... this update is killing me! This UI is a travesty. If ever there was an indication that Tim Cook doesn't look at anything his team does, this is it. Jonny Ive did his thing and nobody told him it looked ugly and violated almost every tenet of good UI design. It's crowded, garish, and unusable.

Buttons are now just text with no indication of what you are supposed to touch... folders are almost invisible... animation jerks and stutters... phone dial screen is all white... everything feels more crowded, especially when using Messages... icons look like they were created to appeal to 8-year olds... Calendar is a huge mess - no idea where to look or what to touch.

So this is what Tim Cook has been working on for two years?

So what you're saying is you don't like change?

I've been stuck at the verification stage since 1:15pm, unable to install iOS 7. If you're going to brag about your new OS, and then wait ages to release it, you better have enough servers ready, or at least stagger the rollout.

I've already switched back to PC, and Android is starting to look much more appealing. If iOS 7 sucks, then goodbye Apple...

Dam it apple

I'm in Europe and it went live at 7pm local (1pm Eastern US)......

Why would these morons release iOS7 at the SAME dam time worldwide and not progressively????:mad::mad:

Slooooooooooooooow download and fearing activation dam it!
