I like colors. I don't like pastel colors. I think it is pretty obvious that most men don't Sure nome do, but not a large percentage. This should be obvious. Go to a department store and try to find mens underwear in a pastel color. You will have a hard time doing so. Not impossible, just very difficult.

That is true I guess, however I sure am happy Jonathan Ive disagrees :)
I seriously thought I would dislike iOS 7 but already now I definitely do not miss the old stale colours of iOS 6...

I'm already quite old. Though you seem to think my point is a juvenile one. Let me be clear. The color scheme is not going to appeal to most men. It just isn't. Even open minded liberal men like myself.

Agree or not Treq is entitled to his opinion. Anyone berating him does not change how he feels about it.

iOS7 is quite opinionated and does not offer a lot of ability to adapt to different tastes. So it's bound to be that some will like and some not. The question is does that strong, non-netural, iOS7 POV hurt or help Apple overall. Would it have better or worse to have some options to customized? Would it have been better to be more neutral?

Let Treq be Treq.

Omg, spewed rootbeer from nose when I got to the "open minded liberal" part....
I think that means something VERY different where you live, than where I live.

Update for Iphone 4S users: some apps are actually FASTER on iOS7 than iOS6. One example: the twitter app. It was always sluggish, but the new version tailored for iOS7 is very snappy!

*happy happy*

If you guys don't like the color scheme, you can always invert all the colors in the accessibility option! Then you have black lists with purple icons and orange text!:p (it's quite ugly lol)

Having updated iTunes and using 10.8.5 whenever I try to update my iPad Retina to IOS7 I get the message window "you do not have permission to access the requested resource" .

How Apple have slipped

That's entirely cultural. It will appeal just fine to many men. I'm guessing you're American and live in the suburbs or a rural area? I'm not trying to be snarky, I just think there's a big cultural divide in what's considered "manly" (and how important it is).

Santa Monica is not rural by any means. In my whole life Ive never lived in a rural area. I'm the classic urbanite. I like being able to get a slice of pizza at 1am. Also, Many is not Most. Most won't like the color scheme. It isn't about manliness, it's about what appeals to men. There is a difference. I would think that would be obvious.

Disappointed they took away the lovely Swiss clock face in world clock

Generally like iOS7 and it is working fine on my iPad mini, but I am really disappointed they took away the lovely Swiss Rail clock faces in World Clocks. They were really classy looking, unlike the boring clock face they have reverted to!

Try installing thru iTunes

Mine finally downloaded and 'prepared', but during the verification process it says "Software Update Unavailable"

I tried this another 4-5 times and gave up, so I upgraded iTunes and downloaded IOS 7 through iTunes, took around 35 min. All's well.

Hope this helps those having problems with verification.

This is perhaps overly basic, but have you tried to restart? I had a few features not working properly until I restarted

Had some weirdness with settings different after the update. Changed some back to where I wanted them and restarted phone.

Have you guys noticed the new Facetime app? How it reflects your face behind the contact list? What a lovely touch! Also the clock showing real time! I love to see the attention to details has not gotten lost at Apple, at least when it comes to iOS.

I was getting the unable to update message all day so I thought by turning on VoiceOver I might get a different server.
I activated VoiceOver and navigated to update and the verify message came up and it said iphone and immediately went black and started to update.
Maybe in VoiceOver mode it uses different servers or bypasses the verification. Either way I'm typing this message on ios7 now. :)

I'd like to disagree with you about Santa Monica, but when they made it illegal to smoke in your own apartment, they went over the edge. And I'm not even a smoker.

Let's get real, Apple would be better off running a consumer test for manliness in WeHo than in Santa Monica.

I live in Santa Monica... As liberal as it gets.

Yup. That's just one of the reasons that it's growing like crazy and attracting tons of tech companies and talent. Quality of life is excellent there.
