meh,

New visuals are so so, I can get used to them. The inconsistent UI is what bothers me.

•Nothing to tell you that your years worth of holding down an icon in multitasking to close an app won't work anymore.
•Swipe an app window up to close the app, but swipe a web window sideways to do the same. Want to delete an email, swipe the opposite way that you always did before.
•Circle buttons for the unlock screen, but not for typing in your password in Settings.

These are just what I've found in five minutes of playing with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Apple fan. Just not of this update. However, as usual, this is another upgrade or get left behind per Apple's norm. I do like how they will keep older versions of Apps, but I doubt they keep a very long inventory. Poor iPad 1 and earlier iPod Touch users will be lucky if they can still find apps that work by the end of the year.

Agree or not Treq is entitled to his opinion. Anyone berating him does not change how he feels about it.

iOS7 is quite opinionated and does not offer a lot of ability to adapt to different tastes. So it's bound to be that some will like and some not. The question is does that strong, non-netural, iOS7 POV hurt or help Apple overall. Would it have better or worse to have some options to customized? Would it have been better to be more neutral?

Let Treq be Treq.

Ahh, finally! Someone gets my point. Thank you!

Then what's your excuse for being a crotchety old sexist?

Wow! Not a sexist at all. Where did you get that. All I'm saying is that this color scheme is not going to appeal to men. Me included. Stop assuming I'm sexist or a homophobe because I don't like pastels. Most men don't.

The new swipe gesture, where you with a swipe can go back or forward a page. It should be available in settings and safari but I can´t get it to work anywhere.

Works in safari great for me. You have to swipe all the way from the edge of the screen to go back or forward

Having updated iTunes and using 10.8.5 whenever I try to update my iPad Retina to IOS7 I get the message window "you do not have permission to access the requested resource" .

How Apple have slipped

Got this as well with iphone 4, couldn't understand why??

Tried again after 10min and upgraded smoothly.

Anyone using ipad 3 on ios 7? Hows it going performance wise? Is it gonna slow it down or is it the same?

Longtime Apple user here... this update is killing me! This UI is a travesty. If ever there was an indication that Tim Cook doesn't look at anything his team does, this is it. Jonny Ive did his thing and nobody told him it looked ugly and violated almost every tenet of good UI design. It's crowded, garish, and unusable.

Buttons are now just text with no indication of what you are supposed to touch... folders are almost invisible... animation jerks and stutters... phone dial screen is all white... everything feels more crowded, especially when using Messages... icons look like they were created to appeal to 8-year olds... Calendar is a huge mess - no idea where to look or what to touch.

So this is what Tim Cook has been working on for two years?

I get the feeling that Tim Cook will be shown the door in the future. If Microsoft is making plans for a new CEO, then Apple may have to counter that eventually.

Working perfectly here. I experienced a few hiccups when trying to update but I'm really enjoying iOS7 on my 4S. No slow down here at all.

Go back a few pages. I posted a few tips to improve speed. Mine was super sluggish in the beginning, now it´s as fast if not faster than on iOS6! Don´t give up on it just yet! Start with a good restart and disable background automatic updates.

Are you on an iPhone 4S? I have been swiping to search for years just fine so I don´t think it´s my incorrect touch hehe

Does it have to be activated anywhere? I tried several times, nothing. :(

It is not the same as swipe to search. You have to start your swipe on the edge of the screen

I like colors. I don't like pastel colors. I think it is pretty obvious that most men don't Sure nome do, but not a large percentage. This should be obvious. Go to a department store and try to find mens underwear in a pastel color. You will have a hard time doing so. Not impossible, just very difficult.
I honestly don't see at all how that should be obvious. I find it pretty weird to categorically dislike a large group of colors, it sounds really neurotic to me.

Just updated it, I am upset imessage still hasn't been activated on my phone! Every time I try to activate it it gives an error message! Anyone else have this issue?

Anyone got any ideas? My iPhone 5 is stuck, it's downloaded the update but every time it state's it's 'verifying update.." it sits there with the spinning wheel, then displays the message "Software Update Unavailable"?

I rebooted the phone and the same thing. I've turned the phone off and on and the same thing?

Anyone able to help?

hmm, i have downloaded ok but when i try to install it says verifying updates then cancels out and says software update unavailable.

Unless there's some specific reason you're not able to do so, you can upgrade to iOS7 via an OTA update without having to interface with iTunes at all.

But this doesn't really help - EVEN syncing/backup requires iTunes 11. I've never seen anything like this, which is REALLY disappointing...I don't know what to do now.

This dude is just trapped in the 1950's... lol.
I guess they don't have American Apparel in Santa Monica??
If so, I'm sure he'd have seen "pastel" colors for men by now! =P
