But this doesn't really help - EVEN syncing/backup requires iTunes 11. I've never seen anything like this, which is REALLY disappointing...I don't know what to do now.

Egh. There's not really any benefit for you upgrading then.

Truth be told, I don't think you're missing out on that much. It's got some nice features, no doubt, but...my opinion...it could've spent a little extra time in beta. I'm finding it a little rough around the edges in places.

Well after taking 2 hours to download and a further hour to update, it failed with an error message. iTunes told me I now had to do a full restore (wiping the phone). I have completed that and now the phone won't activate as the servers seem to be too busy. Great, so now I have a wiped phone that I can't use.

Any ideas anyone?

Have they at least fixed album/list view in iTunes 11?

hmm, i have downloaded ok but when i try to install it says verifying updates then cancels out and says software update unavailable.

Getting the same Software Update Unavailable - which is odd as it took ages to download it. (on iPad Mini - still waiting for the 4S)

Same thing happened to me on my 4S, took nearly 2 hours to get to this point, does this mean i have to start all over again.

Buy an Android phone? That's what I'm beginning to think I should do.

iOS 7 is Fugly!

Longtime Apple user here... this update is killing me! This UI is a travesty. If ever there was an indication that Tim Cook doesn't look at anything his team does, this is it. Jonny Ive did his thing and nobody told him it looked ugly and violated almost every tenet of good UI design. It's crowded, garish, and unusable.

Buttons are now just text with no indication of what you are supposed to touch... folders are almost invisible... animation jerks and stutters... phone dial screen is all white... everything feels more crowded, especially when using Messages... icons look like they were created to appeal to 8-year olds... Calendar is a huge mess - no idea where to look or what to touch.

So this is what Tim Cook has been working on for two years?

I fully agree with this statement and couldn't have said it better myself.
Refusing to install it on my phone until they fix the color palette and horrible icons.

Not sure as I've not managed to get it to upgrade yet. It still says the update has downloaded - maybe it's waiting to connect to Apple for something.

I get the feeling that Tim Cook will be shown the door in the future. If Microsoft is making plans for a new CEO, then Apple may have to counter that eventually.

I doubt whatever we are seeing is Tim Cook's mistake. Apple is made out of 80k employees, and trust me when one guys leaves(Steve Jobs) , it does not mean that the talent that created things like OS X , iTunes Store, iLife Suite, and the macbook air are gone.

The guy who designed this software is Ive, the same guy that was there when Apple was about to go bankrupt but working together with Jobs they turned it into the richest corporation on planet earth. At its all the same guys, Cook, Ive, Schiller, Cue....

Not to mention Steve did make many flops during his lifetime including the G4 Cube, mobileme , iTunes ping, Apple TV which is not picking up, and more....

The problem with this software update that it was rushed. There is no reason that within the coming 6 months or so, huge enhancement are coming. And within 12 months , its will be iOS 8 that can be totally different and fixes all the issues and annoyances any one is finding with this software update.

Anyone having issues with movies and TV shows on icloud in the video app? None of my purchases are showing cover art at all :(

Found a bug with the music player. While the phone is locked while playing an album if you unlock the phone whatever song you have on will skip . It doesn't matter what album I played, locked the phone, turned it back on by sliding to unlock, and the song skipped

I didn't update my iPad 3 until this afternoon and the Apple servers are being hit hard. I do find iOS 7 to be a bit less smooth on my iPad3, but it's better after a soft reset and some use.
My iPad 3 is experiencing the same thing. Scrolling is jerky at first and there are random lags while typing. It feels a lot like how my Touch did after upgrading to iOS 5 -- but that was largely due to insufficient memory. You'd think an iPad 3 would be fine, though. It's not that outdated, is it?

Anyway, what did you mean by "soft reset"? Power down? Reset all Settings?

Thanks!

Whoa. My car charger stopped working on my iPhone 4S after updating. It kept asking if I trust this computer? It's a usb charger not a computer!
Even after I agreed it still was failing until I unplugged and plugged in my 30 pin connector. Weird.

I like colors. I don't like pastel colors. I think it is pretty obvious that most men don't Sure nome do, but not a large percentage. This should be obvious. Go to a department store and try to find mens underwear in a pastel color. You will have a hard time doing so. Not impossible, just very difficult.

I'm a man that's about to marry a beautiful woman. I don't mind the colors. I find it more feminine that you even care about the colors or give them a second thought.

Just my opinion.

I've seen them. Don't like them. They look too feminine for me.

Lol, got it.
Never heard a "liberal" call men's clothes feminine.. they seem to tend to keep their opinions to themselves or select others, if they are being culturally insensitive or blatantly rude. Also, they seem to be neither often!
At any rate- you've made it EXTREMELY clear. You don't like iOS 7. It's because you can't stop obsessing over the icons (which you see for a fraction of a second before you launch your chosen app). You are affront at how it disrespects your masculinity.
Ok. Time to move on. The world is NOT going to change for you. Whining here like a spoiled child may make you feel vindicated, but honestly.. will have no effect. You can get over it, use iOS 6 & NEVER update, jailbreak (when available) to use old icons, or you can switch to a different platform. Those are your options in a nutshell.
