Santa Monica is not rural by any means. In my whole life Ive never lived in a rural area. I'm the classic urbanite. I like being able to get a slice of pizza at 1am. Also, Many is not Most. Most won't like the color scheme. It isn't about manliness, it's about what appeals to men. There is a difference. I would think that would be obvious.

Don't women appeal to (most) men? And most women look fairly effeminate.

Anyway, I guess we'll find out whether it's unappealing to half the population soon enough!

No doubt

I did the update at work, and it failed, requiring me to restore the phone... leaving me pissed that I didn't run my nightly sync and wondering when I did it last.

I, too, am beginning to believe that Android is the way of the future. This is BS.

Buy an Android phone? That's what I'm beginning to think I should do.

How do get your panorama photo to do the panoramic effect once you set it ??

I'm setting it from the photo app and through settings but neither way is making it "panoramic" when I move my phone around.

Also does anyone else find the tools menu at the bottom of the lock screen extremely difficult to swipe up ??

Ive been using the GM version which is the same exact version released today. The swipe up is by far the most annoying thing. Sometimes it works out the gate and then other times it takes a few swipes, BUT the overall feel and look of the OS is awesome.

FYI: I rarely comment on the site, just mostly read what people have to say and I must say with all the complaining about updating and getting errors is making this thread ever soo cumbersome. There is a solution posted too many times to keep track of. Instead of trying to OTA just dl from the links or Apples website. This OS is in high demand , so of course there is going to be a huge hiccup when trying to dl this. There are solutions . Easily search the net for the GM version OR goto Apples website and DL.....
It never ceases to amaze me that all the "nay" sayers are scrambling to download the OS and in turn complaining about the look and feel knowing damn well they have seen, heard about the feature set, aesthetics and then some. No need to bash it. If you do not like it then dont dl it. or if you are having problems do some of the several easy fixes LIKE DOWNLOADING FROM APPLES WEBSITE! simple....

So, I've been playing with it for a little while on my old iphone 4. There is a lot wrong with this UI other than the color scheme. The whole "Flat" thing is not good. Someone earlier mentioned that they took away a lot of useful visual clues. I think they understated that. There are very few if any borders to differentiate buttons or selectable areas. This is not very user friendly. I do love the new task switcher, and the control center, and the notification center. That said, I find it hard to read the time on the home screen. That is just stupid. It needs a shadow underneath it to be readable. This would vary with the chosen background but it should be readable with any background I choose. Anyway, lets hope thy fix this os soon, or maybe a jailbreak will come out so we can fix it ourselves. Until then, I'm keeping my iPhone 5 on iOS 6.

I doubt whatever we are seeing is Tim Cook's mistake. Apple is made out of 80k employees, and trust me when one guys leaves(Steve Jobs) , it does not mean that the talent that created things like OS X , iTunes Store, iLife Suite, and the macbook air are gone.

The guy who designed this software is Ive, the same guy that was there when Apple was about to go bankrupt but working together with Jobs they turned it into the richest corporation on planet earth. At its all the same guys, Cook, Ive, Schiller, Cue....

Not to mention Steve did make many flops during his lifetime including the G4 Cube, mobileme , iTunes ping, Apple TV which is not picking up, and more....

The problem with this software update that it was rushed. There is no reason that within the coming 6 months or so, huge enhancement are coming. And within 12 months , its will be iOS 8 that can be totally different and fixes all the issues and annoyances any one is finding with this software update.

Wil be interesting to see if enough people complain whether Apple does indeed make aesthetic changes? Ive seemed so excited about what he designed here I can't imagine he would redo the icons or pallet. I realize that after a few days or weeks, we will get used to it and won't be complaining as much but I am in the boat of posters who hate it. The texting screen is probably my biggest naysay as it's indeed crowded and everything is just too large and I don't know, it's almost like iOS7 was made for people with poor eyesight...The all white mail app, ugh!

Good idea!! If you get any one of them other than a Nexus, you will NEVER have to worry about the "frustration" of getting an update!!! =P

HELP!!!

My Music app on iOS7 seems to have gone completely crazy. Songs keep skipping randomly! What the heck is going on? Anyone having this issue?

Lol, got it.
Never heard a "liberal" call men's clothes feminine.. they seem to tend to keep their opinions to themselves or select others, if they are being culturally insensitive or blatantly rude. Also, they seem to be neither often!
At any rate- you've made it EXTREMELY clear. You don't like iOS 7. It's because you can't stop obsessing over the icons (which you see for a fraction of a second before you launch your chosen app). You are affront at how it disrespects your masculinity.
Ok. Time to move on. The world is NOT going to change for you. Whining here like a spoiled child may make you feel vindicated, but honestly.. will have no effect. You can get over it, use iOS 6 & NEVER update, jailbreak (when available) to use old icons, or you can switch to a different platform. Those are your options in a nutshell.

You are taking my opinions way too personally. First of all, those clothes do look feminine. Second, nothing I wrote was rude or culturally insensitive. That is your spin on it. These are my opinions and they are well informed. If you choose to see me as a sexist, or a homophobe just because I don't think men are going to like the pastel color scheme then you are probably just as close minded and bigoted as you would make me out to be. You have judged me as a horrible bigoted person from my one opinion without even understanding it. Anyway, good day to you.

Also, FYI, expressing your opinion is not whining.

Anyone using ipad 3 on ios 7? Hows it going performance wise? Is it gonna slow it down or is it the same?

I have been using iOS 7 on my 3rd Gen iPad for a couple of hours and I do notice a significant difference in the speed. There seems to be a delay on small things like changing to caps when I type and opening apps is much slower.

Don't Install on iPad 2!!!!!!!!

This is virtually useless. Seems like the speed is like all of a sudden I have a 80386 90's processor in my iPad.

Can't do anything. Lag, freezes!

DO NOT install on iPad 2 until they release an update!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally updated iPad3 after repeated attempts. I guess we have to get used to the UI. I will wait sometime before I attempt on my IP5.

Anyway this time I am ready with saved 6.1.3/4 SHSH blobs in case I want to go back. Apple was sneaky last time and stopped signing older iOS very quickly.

siri seems to understand more.

the colors of the messaging app make it very difficult to read the messages. I could find no preference for this.

swiping to unlock sometimes swipes up the control center, especially when using one hand only. Hmm.

overall I like it a lot. I really like the new global skinny font and the animations. The whole OS feels more fluid. The control center is a great improvement.

I think that depends greatly upon the user...

Just to clarify, I meant the borderless part specifically isn't very user friendly. There are a lot of user friendly changes in this OS.

Hope you're downing beer and looking at pictures of naked girls as you type that, otherwise you're not 'real man'.

Thanks for the suggestion, that sounds like fun. :D

Never mind folks. Solved it. Had to clear the cache on Google Chrome. Apple site then updated from 11.0.5 to 11.1. Simple :/

For those still seeing 11.0.5 on the Apple site for iTunes, clear your cache on what ever browser you're using, quit the browser, open it up and check the Apple site again.

And Finally

After about 4 hours of trying to update a iPad mini and iPad 4th gen they are both now updated. Why or why have Apple not learnt anything about phasing the release. Rather than most of the world on the same day big bang style, why not release it phased, like Europe earlier in the day, while the USA sleeps, followed by the USA later in the day. This would remove the strain for their network, which it still cannot cope with the load, and also stop the frustration of a lot of apple fans, me included.

Was beginning to think the maybe worth waiting until the new iPads came out later this year or whenever they are due to arrive rather than get anymore frustrated. 4 hours come on apple I have better things to do with my time !!!

Guess this will occur again in a few weeks time when they release Mavericks to the world again.
