I'll say this, the new iPhoto looks nice, but it's an absolute teetotal trainwreck of lag and seems to fight against me more than...you know...do what I want it to do.
Want to email myself a picture? All I have to do is hit the menu button...
...wait (literally) 6 to 10 seconds for it to pop up...
...and there it goes. Now I can press the
Want to set a wallpaper? I might as well just start punching myself in the face now. It's more productive, and won't lag everything outfor 15 seconds.
I'm have such mixed feelings about this "upgrade". The UI does have it's nice moments, but I feel like it's hobbled my iPad. Everything seems to have a half second lag that wasn't there before. Nothing feels as immediate as it did in iOS6.
And the multitasker. The UI itself is one of the things I like best about the upgrades. It's simple and elegant in a way the old setup never was. What I don't like is doing the 4 finger swipe up...
...waiting 4 seconds...
...then having it appear on my screen. One thing I could say about the old one, it worked right when you wanted it to. The animation was timed so well with the gesture, it looked like you were pushing up the screen. This? At least as far as response time goes, it doesn't compare.
Overall, I am not impressed. It looks great in places (even if the new settings icon looks kinda sinister), but the lag, and the jitter, and the overall not-smooth-at-alls blunts any good first impressions I might've had.
