I was talking to Apple Support before being disconnected and he had no solutions other than to restore my iPhone and hope that the 8.0.1 being downloaded is better than the OTA.

He had planned to send me a link to the IPSW file if this didn't work.

Apple says try restore from recovery mode in itunes

I'm on the line with apple and they've connected me with a senior engineer. He is telling me to restore the phone from recovery mode using iTunes. Apparently this is an issue with the over the air update.

I'll keep everyone posted.

How to fix!!!

Do an iTunes restore with 8.0.1 and you should get things back to normal on 6 and 6+

Put your phone in recovery mode

by connecting it to iTunes

retore 8.01 from there will get your cell service back

just did it it works

Resetting or updating with IPSW?

CONFIRMED!!!

For iPhone 6 users: If your phone is having problems, download the 8.0.1 IPSW and option-update in iTunes. This will fix the issues!

I have a phone again! Yayyy!

Is this a RESET or just and update??

Ugh...

After the Upgrade trick now I have other issues. Can't open Safari or Mail, Calendar is showing no date, and settings is missing a few key elements for those weird apps.

As a few others have mentioned, I just confirmed that re-applying the 8.0.1 ipsw through iTunes fixes the issue. Sounds like something is wrong with the OTA.

iPhone 6 on ATT running iOS 8.0.1 is working for me now.

You guys have no idea how many Samsung marketing people are in here driving up the "my phone is broken" post count. Check the profiles of people posting it's broken...many have just 1 post. Sure, some might have joined just to post, but that many? Come on.

It seems like it's broken for all who updated who have iphone 6. Check my post history if you want, I'm not here to drive up the post count. Just happy that I have my 5S as backup

Good to know, I'll be updating tonight when I get home :)

I had this problem with iOS 8 update. I have AT&T and it needed a tower update to the phone which didn't happen right away. It took a few hours for the update to go through

Guess I should have read up first. This update killed my cellular service. Wow. iOS 8 has been a clusterf---.
