Apple Releases iOS 8.0.1 With Fixes for HealthKit, Keyboards, and More [WARNING: iOS 8.0.1 Causing Issues With Cell Service, Touch ID]

Someone mentioned that updating via iTunes to 8.0.1 actually works. Maybe it's just an issue with OTA updates.

After doing this, my touch ID works and I have service again, but now some apps (safari/mail) just crashes upon launching. Ugh...

Cellular Radio seems completely dead. I haven't tried, but it's very likely that you won't be able to make emergency calls either. No 911 or 112 for you.

For iPhone 6 users: If your phone is having problems, download the 8.0.1 IPSW and option-update in iTunes. This will fix the issues!

DOWNGRADE TO 8.0 and it fixes it

The quickest way I fixed this was to roll back to iOS 8.0. Go here: http://www.iphonehacks.com/download-iphone-ios-firmware and get the download which is directly from Apple's download server.

Then follow these instructions even though they are for downgrade of 7.0...its still the same process

My phone is back to iOS 8.0 right now!!

I was in the middle of doing the OTA update. I turned wifi off, this stopped the download of the OTA update. Now I am doing the update through iTunes. Hope it works!! I will let y'all know.

I was a QA intern at many tech companies. We can't test for every single factor that exists. Occasionally something slips through even though we run through our entire list of tests and the piece of software passes. I remember one time we had a memory leak issue that wasn't detected until a day or two before a big trade show. How was it detected?
