Someone mentioned that updating via iTunes to 8.0.1 actually works. Maybe it's just an issue with OTA updates.

Here are direct download links. I'm going to try it.

Update:
After doing this, my touch ID works and I have service again, but now some apps (safari/mail) just crashes upon launching. Ugh...

No EMERGENCY calling either!

Cellular Radio seems completely dead. I haven't tried, but it's very likely that you won't be able to make emergency calls either. No 911 or 112 for you.

T-Mobile Good to go

I have a T-Mobile 64GB iPhone 6, update installed without any issue. I am good to go.

As I hadn’t actually noticed a single one of these, (iOS8 seems pretty solid), I’ll give it a miss.

Dear Tim Cook,
I'll accept an on the house :apple: Watch, Space Grey Stainless Steel, 38 mm, with all bands as an apology for this horrible 'update'.

Thanks,

CONFIRMED

OTA iPhone 6 on Verizon didn't work - Cell and TouchID broken.

Downloaded the IPSW did the Option Upgrade trick in iTunes and re-installed 8.0.1 and TouchID and Cell works now.

that doesn't require restoring your phone? also where can i get the ipsw file for 8.0.1?

I was in the middle of doing the OTA update. I turned wifi off, this stopped the download of the OTA update. Now I am doing the update through iTunes. Hope it works!! I will let y'all know.

Thanks. Trying this. Does anyone know if you can restore from a computer other than your home machine? Can you just use any comp w/iTunes on it?

Dear Apple, do you even QA

I was a QA intern at many tech companies. We can't test for every single factor that exists. Occasionally something slips through even though we run through our entire list of tests and the piece of software passes. I remember one time we had a memory leak issue that wasn't detected until a day or two before a big trade show. How was it detected? I happened to be glancing at Windows Task Manager while doing QA testing and noticed the RAM number creeping up.
