Just tried it:

Held my iPhone up to the NFC reader on the vending machine and my screen automatically turned on and asked me to authenticate with Apple Pay. I tried the Citi card twice, and it was declined (yes, I have enough available credit for a $1.60 purchase so not sure why) so maybe they're still working out the bugs. I added a Chase card and it worked.

It's pretty neat, but to be quite honest, I'm not sure if it's any faster than swiping a card.

And to clarify things: THIS WAS A REGULAR NFC-ACCEPTING SODA MACHINE. No special requirement for the merchant to support ApplePay.

Cool!
Might not be faster. But it's a whole lot safer. Period.

Is it not possible to use touch ID for apple pay separate from touch ID for the lock screen? It's only letting me set up apple pay if I lock my home screen. I have never locked my phone, and don't plan on doing so.

on the device your trying to add if having issues getting it pop up sign out of iMessage on that device then log back in and rerequest the code from the iPhone

Thanks, that did it. To reiterate:

On my MacBook, launch Messages app, Preferences, Account, then sign out of your iCloud account, then sign back in.

On your iPhone, enable the MacBook for Text Message Forwarding, and the Messages app on your MacBook will show the code.

I understand the frustration with this in previous builds of iOS. However, it is required for Handoff to function in 8.1. Apple likely made a calculated risk of frustrating some users for the sake of everything "just working" on day one for all users.
True, I was not thinking of the new handdoff function. It does make sense in that regard. Knee jerk reaction I guess. LOL ;)

Finally can choose between 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE!

It's a nice feature to have especially in fringe networks where the 3G or 4G LTE reception is lower than 2G and the phone likes to drop to the much slower network.

I can not acess to this :/ Where you go to enable 2G?

Had to do OTA. iTunes kept saying 8.0.2 was the latest version and then it was saying the server wasn't responding.

It works. Phone service. Camera Roll is back, including stuff I shot while it was gone. And all my icons are back, too, a few had been generic on 8.0 since purchase of my 6. I'll worry about Pay later.

Bye!

New App idea

Someone should create a community driven App that will show you all the verified places where NFC/Apple Pay is known to work.

You do realize if someone steals your phone they can cause you all kinds of havoc if you didn't lock it, right? You really should, especially since it's so easy with TouchID.

I just used it to buy a Mountain Dew out of vending machine right outside of my work. I guess that proves your theory wrong. What else do you have?

to NFC transactions jesus christ. My point is stores that refuse NFC transactions will refuse apple pay/ the general consumer has no idea what an NFC transaction is; they know what apple pay is; thats why stores have publicly said they are OPTING OUT OF APPLE PAY not NFC transactions bc no one would have any idea what they are talking about. But I'm done.

Ahhh what am I saying; I'm downloading it too I can't resist.

To keep the theme, I'll quote another movie:

"Let's finish this the way we started... - together!!!" *Jumps off cliff* - Harry Potter

:)

Not necessarily. Confucius said... ok ok, I'll stop :) lol

Why not when you have Touch ID? And of course you want your credit card information locked.
