Didn't Apple say that the NFC chip will only work with Apple Pay, not any other form of NFC?

So if that is the case it doesn't matter if a retailer has NFC terminals or not. It will not work like a normal NFC credit card or mobile using standard NFC

"Card Not Added"

- Just finished installed 8.1 on my iPhone 6 plus.
- For me credit card, I used my "Card on File with iTunes".
- Double checked the last four digits and triple checked I used the correct security code.
- Get an error saying "Card Not Added"
- I go to iTunes on my Mac, I double checked my account's card and even re-entered the info.
- Tried again on my iPhone and again, "No Card Added".
- My card is a Wells Fargo debit/Credit card, so it should work.
- Added the same card as 'an additional card' instead.
- This time it went through, but it's pending approval through the Wells Fargo Verify app. Hopefully this'll work.

Hopefully Apple won't get confused using the same card as a 'different card'

Once again a rough start to a new Apple service/update.

LMFAO nooo dont open your self up to logic!! they will try to bash you. I've been trying to explain that NFC transactions are irrelevant thats why stores are opting out of apple pay even if what they are opting out if in reality is NFC.

Since I either get "8.0.2 is the current version" popup, or the "Unable to contact the server" error in iTunes, I went ahead and downloaded the firmware from here:

http://www.iclarified.com/750/where-to-download-iphone-firmware-files-from

And for iPad:

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=8500

I suppose you can find iPod Touch software listed there as well.

Once downloaded, click "Check for Updates" button while holding down the Shift key (or Alt for Windows users), and navigate to the downloaded firmware file.

For anyone who still doesn't believe that Apple Pay works anywhere NFC is accepted. Did you guys see Dynamic Vending on the list of merchants accepting ApplePay on apple.com? Me neither.

Where do you set up SMS relay? In Messages, I still get 'X is not registered with iMessages'.

?

not sure about that but after installing 8.1 (plus having yosemite i doubt that affects whether the setting shows up but it may) theres a new setting in messages setting------>messages------>text message forwarding.

it will ask you to enter the code prompted on your other device. if the code is not prompting. sign out of iCloud on that device. resign in then retry to get the code to prompt.

It's pretty neat, but to be quite honest, I'm not sure if it's any faster than swiping a card.

I don't really care if it's faster, I care that the people operating the vending machine don't have access to my CC number/CVV/pin, so when they inevitably get hacked I don't have to do the "request a new card and start the chargeback process for bogus charges" dance with my bank.

(I'm looking at you, Target.)

You do realize if someone steals your phone they can cause you all kinds of havoc if you didn't lock it, right? You really should, especially since it's so easy with TouchID.

My touch ID is 50/50 with my oily fingers, and anything on my phone that needs to be secure is protected by a separate password anyways (banking and iCloud is all I really have). It's not worth the hassle of unlocking every time. I just don't understand why we can't use touchID for things independently of the lock screen.

Just bought mcds with my iPhone! So cool. I went to subway first, but they couldn't understand my question "do you accept contactless payment here"

to NFC transactions jesus christ. My point is stores that refuse NFC transactions will refuse apple pay/ the general consumer has no idea what an NFC transaction is; they know what apple pay is; thats why stores have publicly said they are OPTING OUT OF APPLE PAY not NFC transactions bc no one would have any idea what they are talking about. But I'm done.

I have no clue what you are trying to say. First you said stores had to sign on with Apple Pay. Now you say if stores refuse NFC transactions, Apple Pay will not work. Well duh. If a terminal doesn't support NFC then it will not support Apple Pay. It would also mean it would not support Paypass, Google Wallet, ISIS, etc.
