Updated to iOS 8.1, No Apple Pay anywhere in sight. Not in Settings, nor in Passbook itself. Tried hard and soft reset. Anyone else experiencing this/remedy known?

I have:
iPhone 6
NYC, USA
Verizon Wireless

Thanks

Go into your settings. there is a combined icon for Passport and Apple Pay

I'm still upset that upon upgrading to ios8, Apple deleted all of my iWork documents from the cloud. I've lost all copies of irreplaceable documents from my great grandmother that I assumed was safe.

You had irreplaceable documents in the cloud with no offline backups and you assumed they were safe???

Never do that.

any noticeable battery problems? i had serious battery issues with the 8.1 b2 on my iPhone 5. Still rocking the b1 which is fine.

Nothing in Settings regarding Passport or Apple Pay. Only iCloud & iTunes/App Store tab. Also dont have the ability to toggle the new 2G/3G/LTE option...

Software Update in General definitely states that I'm on 8.1 so I'm stumped right now.

Ok, I solved the SMS relay issue by disabling iMessage on my iPhone, enabling it again, rebooting and then enabling my phone number for iMessage on all of my computers. After that I could enable SMS relay.

Basically what I had to do to get it to work also. But now it does.

Also as an aside, I had to do reset network settings on both my iPad and iPhone to get the instant hotspot to work also. (I know this was working in 8.0.2 previously, but i couldn't get it working, thought maybe 8.1 would fix it. it didnt, so i had to resort to reset netwrok settings on both and now it works.)
just remember to rename your iphone/ipad after doing so as restting network settings restores them back to iPhone and iPad generically.

Strange. Apple says you need to be on the same wifi network to send/receive SMS. However, I'm on different networks (big apartment building and some signals are picked up on my MBP that aren't on my iP5) yet my SMS messages sent from MBP are still working (and being received) without hassle.

I would say out of all the new features, this is definitely my fav.

[edit]: Ahh realised it's done via bluetooth. I wish phone calls used the same principle.

After installing 8.1 I tried sending an imessage to my wife's iphone from my iphone 6. It fails everytime. I turned off bluetooth, turned off wifi. Rebooted the iphone, still no luck. WTF

Edit: turning off imessage in settings and turning back on fixed it.

I added both my CapOne and AMEX. However, for the AMEX I could not get it to work with the photo capture, and had to enter the number manually. I think it is because it couldn't read the numbers on top of the centurion guy in the middle. Anyone else ran into this issue?

my costco amex is my itunes cc, so i just had to enter my CVV code.

My AAdvantage Citi card didnt work with the photo feature. the exp date on it is 10/31/2015, so it read it in as 1/2015. so had to manually edit the expiration date after it entered the info from photo. then it worked fine.

I need 2.2GB of free space to install a 128 MB update??? Apple really has to figure this out. I shouldn't have to clear a bunch of space each time I want to do an OTA upgrade. I'll use my computer this time instead of deleting a bunch of stuff like I did a month ago with 8.0, but this is really getting to be annoying.

So, done updates to my iPhone 6 and iPad Air through my Mac, both came up with an error "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. The session ID is missing." after the update was finished when it tried to reconnect with the devices, and my parents iPhone 4S's came up with a different error but probably the same thing on a Windows 7 machine.

Well done Apple, your always giving us new things lately.

No, but my Chase Southwest Rewards card did not work.

Make sure your card scanned right. I noticed it messed up the expiration date on one of mine. Double check the number, name, and expiration date. And of course make sure you typed the CVV number in correctly.

go to your mac settings general------>allow handoff to other devices make sure thats checked off

I did that too and i have the same problem as the person you replied to. Handoff isn't working at all between iPhone 6 and macbook pro

OMFG i get it! and i've explained what iw as trying to say a million times. Apples website does a god damn wonderful job i don't understand where the questions are. i just don't. THE ONLY THING i was trying to say was stores are making it seem like to the general consumer that they can opt out of apple pay to me if i was just a general consumer whether that means in reality they are just opting out of having nfc transactions is irrelevant was is relevant as an apple consumer is where will MY APPLE PAY work. not my NFC TRANSACTING DEVICE.

Calm down dude. Why don't you just say your piece and then move on?

I did not put finger on too soon.....moved the phone away from terminal too soon.

Also, noticed that the phone has to be closer to the WFM terminal than the CVS one. Different designs/antennae configuration.....

Ahh....sorry...misunderstood!

Just got an email from AMEX, as I setup Apple Pay with that (Costco) card, and thought it would be of interest here:

"A few things to note about Apple Pay:

When you turn over your Card in Apple Pay, you will see two different sets of numbers. One will be the last 5 digits of your American Express Card number. The other is the Device Account Number, which is a unique number assigned to this Card on your Phone.

If a merchant asks for the last 5 digits of your Card after you’ve made a purchase with your American Express Card in Apple Pay, please use the last 5 digits of the Device Account Number."
It makes sense that that's the number they woudl want if asked. But it doesn't make sense that they need a number at all. I'm not understanding why they would want it. And if it's gratuitous checking of info, this is the kinda stuff that will inhibit apple pay adoption...

Ok, not sure if you did this...

There is no app. Just go to Passbook, swipe all the way to the top, slowly. You should see a + in the top right corner to add a new Passbook card. Press it, then it'll walk you thru adding either a CC or other type of card. Select CC.

very odd. i have no clue then.
mine is in a three button portion under privacy. after privacy comes:

iCloud
itunes and app store
passport & apple pay

then the next set starts with mail/contacts/calendars.

do you have a passport app?

I have an android phone, but thinking of switching to iPhone 6. Don't currently use Google Wallet or Softcard because both track your purchase for marketing purposes, to send you "special offers and coupons." No thanks. Does anyone know if Apple is planning on doing the same thing with Apple Pay?

Apple has made several public statements saying that Apple does not collect transaction data and has no interest in tracking your purchase activity for advertising.

The last two sections on http://www.apple.com/apple-pay/ reference this directly. A Google search for Tim Cook comments about Apple Pay will turn up similar statements.

anyone having issues with the settings icon showing a 1 after the 8.1 update is completed?

i can't seem to get rid of it..
