After the update i was quick checking the iCloud settings before Apple turns everything on again. Also turning on the cellular with the sim pin code.

I got a pop up, something about passbook. But while I was doing the above, I clicked the pop up away without be able to read it.

Does anyone know what that was? thanks.

I could care less about new features, I just want to know if Safari is fixed. The one sentence about fixing an issue where videos didn't play back doesn't give me much hope.

I got the update on my iPhone 5 - smooth sailing so far.

And it appears to have fixed the home button bug that many have seen on the 5 or 5S - where pressing home button after unlock would be interpreted as a double-click and take you to the multitask screen instead of home screen. Yay, finally.

Can some confirm that iOS 8.1 will work with iTunes 11.4
I'm concerned that it will only work with iTunes 12 which I can not run.

iPhone 4S finished installation.

Still slow, if not slower.

If you don't give me an option to go back to iOS 7, I will not be able to wait until the iPhone 6S comes out.

Z3 Compact, I'm coming!

I attempted to update my iPad mini with retina display this morning and, as soon as it downloaded and started the install, the screen went black and then showed the "plug into iTunes" image. I plugged it into iTunes and it stated it was in recovery mode and had to be restored and updated. I don't know if anybody else has had this problem but it kinda sucks. Needless to say, I killed the download on my phone right away and am going to wait until I make sure I have a good back up of all my data

Here you go

iOS 8.1. Had only 3G/LTE on 8.0.2. More than happy. :D

I think this is linked to the carrier. Seems to be a voice over lte setting. (sorry if this was mentioned before. But I didn't read all the pages).
I don't have these settings. I only have
• Cellular Data
• Enable 4G

• Data roaming
• EU internet

4G is weird, because my network doesn't support the iPhone 5 4G. And even if it did I have to pay extra. And I still doen't really understand the EU internet. But that's a different story.

I have an android phone, but thinking of switching to iPhone 6. Don't currently use Google Wallet or Softcard because both track your purchase for marketing purposes, to send you "special offers and coupons." No thanks. Does anyone know if Apple is planning on doing the same thing with Apple Pay?

Highly annoyed

Someone explain to me why I have to first delete all photos on my device in order to use icloud photos drive? I am soooo over Apple acting as If items that belong to you do not belong to you. It should not be such a pain to use relatively simple features. I don't need to wipe my device to use Dropbox, I also don't need to wipe device to use google drive or any of the other long list of programs and services out there. Why must Apple force you to do this with photos and music? i am one of those people who do not own a laptop or desktop, I'm certainly not uploading my wang pics (no one needs to comment on this, but I'm sure someone or everyone will feel the need to share their opinion on that) to my office on or a family members.
I'm still upset that upon upgrading to ios8, Apple deleted all of my iWork documents from the cloud. I've lost all copies of irreplaceable documents from my great grandmother that I assumed was safe. It even deleted them from my iPad that was not updated.
Call me 1000% annoyed beyond belief, and kinda hating Apple

There isnt even an iOS 8 jailbreak out yet, is there?

Nope. Just saying that it's not necessarily a problem to do an OTA update if you are going to jailbreak in the future. Pangu worked fine on 5 devices that I jailbroke which had been OTA updated.

I think that if you're not in the U.S., Apple Pay won't even appear in Passbook, which I don't think makes sense because what if you have an American credit card and you're traveling?

Apple Pay - AMEX Info

Just got an email from AMEX, as I setup Apple Pay with that (Costco) card, and thought it would be of interest here:

"A few things to note about Apple Pay:

When you turn over your Card in Apple Pay, you will see two different sets of numbers. One will be the last 5 digits of your American Express Card number. The other is the Device Account Number, which is a unique number assigned to this Card on your Phone.

If a merchant asks for the last 5 digits of your Card after you’ve made a purchase with your American Express Card in Apple Pay, please use the last 5 digits of the Device Account Number."

NFC is a lot more wide spread than you think.

Apple pay is about increasing the SECURITY of the transaction (the retailer, the machine doesn'T have any info from you) and to be able to not have to fiddle with 20 cards... Yes, I have that many ;-). Even if they steal your phone or you lose it, they still don't have the credit cards and bank cards, you don't have to reissue them all.

I know what it's about but it isn't widespread in the UK, if you live in London or Manchester or similiar I guess it's easier to find, but not around here, even Supermarkets don't have it.

I really do hope this kicks off a increase in NFC but I'm not holding my breath.

Installing now, nice to see the release has occurred in the midst of the McDonalds Monopoly game, gives a good excuse to go try it there and maybe win something at the same time. :D

Updated to iOS 8.1, No Apple Pay anywhere in sight. Not in Settings, nor in Passbook itself. Tried hard and soft reset. Anyone else experiencing this/remedy known?

I have:
iPhone 6
NYC, USA
Verizon Wireless

Thanks

Apple told us in the Keynote it will not be able to see the card number. card brand. Where you shop, what you were shopping for. Or other personal information. It just functions as a wallet/ payment system.

More over here: http://www.apple.com/iphone-6/apple-pay/

yes correct. except i completely disagree with the angle NFC is irrelevant thats why stores are saying they are OPTING OUT OF APPLE PAY. not NFC transactions because the general consumer has no idea what the frick an NFC transaction is.

Just stop. You are trying to dig yourself out of a hole you dug with your being wrong. Then try to hide behind terminology of Apple Pay vs NFC.

You referenced the logo slide saying that unless Apple acknowledges it, Apple Pay won't work. No, that's flat out wrong.

To now try to say that you weren't distinguishing between Apple Pay and NFC because the avg consumer won't, is BS.

Yeah, that was so much faster than swiping a credit card I already have in my hand.

----------

Tried to add 4 different credit/debit cards to Apple Pay. Only Capital One worked. The one with the highest interest rate that I rarely use. Still, I'll probably use it to buy something I don't need today, just because.

You're in credit card debt, you bought an iPhone, and you're gonna buy something at the highest interest rate "just because".

USA! USA! USA!

Ah, thank you for posting that about the home button! I will update right away, then. That's been one of my biggest problems.
