You make billions of dollars, and you make an update for emoji..

You are so creative Apple!

The only thing they fixed was Jailbreak...LOL. Is that what you call "performance improvement?" 9.1 is a joke, Apple.
What is up with 150 emoji...is that update-click bait?

FFS people, look at the FULL change log and the bug fixes. There are LOADS of improvements, just for one my TouchID is far more responsive now. Honestly I wish a) we could downvote posts and b) I could write what I though t but don't want to get banned.

Really annoyed that the google search page with shortcuts not enabled is still got the scrolling bug. I reported this to apple in the previous 9 versions. No shortcuts enabled the google search page overlaps the text box and you cant see the suggestions as it doesnt scroll up like it should. Please if someone else can report this bug to apple it might help get it sorted !

Great update:) No lag in app switcher anymore :D iphone 6 plus here :)

I'd be extremely happy if this speeds up older devices... BUT: I really think that Apple needs to work on their update policy. Having to update multiple iOS devices (work & private) every couple of weeks is becoming a major annoyance to me.

Make the bug fixes silent background tasks, for example, and only distribute 1 or 2 point updates max. per year.

No, please keep the updates coming. This is what I like about Apple. I don't want to have to wait eons, if there are issues to resolve, do them.
How about if you stagger when you update your devices so you don't have to deal with several at once?

Overall iOS9.1 is working pretty smooth on my iPad mini2 and iPhone 5s but....

Unfortunately the lag with showing a third party keyboard such as Swype or Path Input for iPad is still there with the final version iOS9.1 which was released yesterday. Swype released already quite a few iOS9 updates but didn't help so far. The lag is especially visible with my iPad mini2 running 9.1 and also a bit with iPhone 5s it's especially visible with the Spotlight search (scroll down). I sure hope they will get this fixed. In some cases the keyboard doesn't even show on Spotlight and jumps back to Apple's own keyboard while in other apps i do get the Swype keyboard. Very odd behaviour.

iOS9.1 is an improvement but not for the third party keyboards. It was working so good in iOS 8.3/8.4.

I wish Apple would come up with a swiping/slide feature for their own keyboard one day.

I got an iPad Mini 2 too. just updated to 9.1. Yes it runs better, but would still say, lag in multitask. and then i open apps, some seconds behind before they open. im still a little disapointed, iOS dosent run like the old iOS 6 since ios 7 in terms of performance and smoothness. As for updates, i think apple update many times in a month sometimes to close threats that could come, security too :)+ fix bugs and all that hehe :p

Are you crazy? The more updates the better! I don't really see what your issue is anyway. Download, update, restart - when you choose to do so.

I haven't noticed lag in multitasking so far. The major lag is especially related to showing the third party keyboard on e.g. Spotlight search. I did notice that in iOS9 and 9.1 there is a bit more waiting when you open an app and the app opens to actually show the content (e.g. Launcher) also with apps that recently got iOS9 updates.

Hey which Devices do you have ? :) only lag on my mini i wrote about :)

In any case, I'm glad they fixed my #1 annoyance and regression - Phone app once again remembers which groups of Contacts were checked and doesn't default to showing all my a personal gmailgroups!! Thanks Apple!
Are you seeing that when only a single group selected then you do a search for a contact it does not appear until you open the groups again (not really having to select anything just open and cancel) then the search will work? I have that issue and have reported it in the last beta and its still there in this release.

I still can't add a non-gmail google account in OS9.1. Way to go Apple
What is a non gmail google acct? Are you talking about a google apps account with your own domain? I have a personal gmail acct and a google apps custom domain account and they both work fine.

So I take it this also fixes the random shutoff bug on the 6s? I didn't see it mentioned in the notes, but people who had the issue who were running the 6.1 beta didn't report any shutdown issues.

I had that happen to me a handful of times, including one time when the home button was scorching hot, probably my biggest software issue with iOS ever, quite frankly.

I have a 6plus and its still no where near as smooth as IOS 8 was. Still laggy and slow. Still wish I had never updated. My wife is still on IOS 8 on her 6plus and comparing the two side by side it is a noticeable difference. My days of immediately updating are over. Apple just isn't as good as they used to be when it comes to software. Sad.

They added 100+ emojis, not just a middle finger.

Regarding red text, are you serious? Maybe other people use or enjoy them. Since when does your lack of need constitute the removal of the feature for everyone? Does the sun rise and set on you too?

From now on when Apple wants to know if a feature is important, they should just double check with you.

I'll close with a couple random emojis just to ruffle your feathers. :D

Regarding red text, I actually didn't post it that way. You may have responded to another post.

You don't seem to get my point and it is not related to tell others what they need or use.

EMOJI take up memory. Designing artwork for them takes up resources at Apple's design studio. (If it is correct that Apple designs these icons)
Looking through them to find a specific one takes time, when I can just type :-(
EMOJI are not a feature in my book.

If I had a company I would tackle EMOJI development only when everything I was doing was perfect and I was bored out of my skull. Apple does this EMOJI stuff to be on par with all the other competitors.

I guess you are young, which is why I posted my "old fart" standpoint.

Lived all my life without EMOJI and believe it or not I can still say and show what I feel in words. :)

Apple today released iOS 9.1 to the public, marking the first major update to the iOS 9 operating system that launched in September. In testing since before iOS 9 was even released, iOS 9.1 was beta tested for more than a month before its launch, with developers and public beta testers receiving five betas in total.

Today's iOS 9.1 update is available as an over-the-air update to all iOS 9 users. It is the third update to iOS 9 so far, with Apple having previously released iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2. Apple has also released Xcode 7.1 and the tvOS golden master (GM), which represents the final version of the software that will be available when the new Apple TV launches next week.

iOS 9.1 has a limited number of outward facing changes. It includes support for Unicode 7 and 8, introducing a range of new emoji like taco, burrito, cheese wedge, middle finger, champagne bottle, unicorn head, and more.

iOS 9.1 includes an update for Live Photos, which now sense when the iPhone is raised or lowered to refrain from recording unnecessary movements. The update also introduces a new Messages option in the Settings app that is designed to allow users to disable photos for contacts, and it brings Apple News to the UK and Australia for the first time.

Aside from these changes, iOS 9.1 includes new features and compatibility updates for upcoming Apple products like the fourth-generation Apple TV and the iPad Pro The new Apple TV requires iOS 9.1 to be set up using an iOS device.

iOS 9.1 also includes bug fixes for a number of issues that iOS users have been experiencing, and as with most iOS updates, it enhances performance and introduces important security fixes.

Update: iOS 9.1 includes security updates that break the recent iOS 9 Pangu jailbreak.

Since 9.1 my contacts are messed up. When in cyrillic the don't appear in correct order. And Before every contact there is a section with hashtag. WTF Apple?!

iTunes terms and conditions? Happens with quite a few updates.

It was more of a joke/sarcasm thing about how everyone just clicks agree anyway without looking for the changes... I forgot that there is no sense of humor allowed on MR for a second. These Mac rumors are serious business.

So you're saying the graphic designers who are doing the emoji images should be fixing Wi-Fi performance issues as an example? Sorry bud, software development doesn't work that way.

My iPhone 6 is about the same with 9.1. A little zippier glad it didn't slow things down. Overall an ok update. I'm updating my iPad mini now. That needs the improvement

Settings still does not open at the top of the list. Although minor it tells me no care is taken in testing usability. Why add search to settings and hide it at the top?

It's not a bug. It leaves the settings open to wherever you were last using it. If you want it to open at the top then you need to make sure you scroll to the top every time you exit settings.
