Mine also fails if I let the phone lock... Kind of a strange issuei can confirm that if you let you phone lock that it will cause the update to fail.
Now it's when the complaints are going to start and the "iPhone slow" searches on Google will peak - just like every release for the last 2-3 years. Apple has become lazy and wants to push releases in time to meet deadlines - compromising software and the overall user experience. It's all about $$$ now. It's sad.
Still, there will be people claiming that Apple will have everything polished by 9.1... What about getting it right on the first release? Waiting for the next release is not an excuse.
