Definitely suggest downloading via iTunes if you can. I went from 6 minutes OTA to "failure" message" to about 4 minutes via iTunes. Running smoothly now!

I was getting the same error. Took about 15 tries to get in. Started at 17 minutes remaining. Now down to 13 about 5-6 minutes later.

It would be the same thing whatever hour they released...
Um, I disagree. If they launch it at midnight, then only the hardcore will try to update immediately. Then, as people in each timezone wake up and start moving around, they will try to update, so it would be a gradual increase in traffic. As it is now, all of N America is sitting there waiting for 10 PST to come around and start hitting the update buttons at once.

iPhone 6.. All is well and installed here. After a few "software update failed" errors it finally updated and installed.
Hope it starts working for everyone soon.

Ah! I truly miss iOS 6 and Scott Forstall. Apple software design and engineering was top notch when he was in charge. Considering what Federighi and Ive did to iOS since his abrupt dismissal, Cook made a HUGE mistake in firing him.
I hate to cause confrontation but. . . . I disagree. iOS 6- was ugly, buggy, and Maps was terrible.

something i can't quite understand is why iTune works while OTA doesn't especially when they are coming from similar server.
in any case iTune was faster for me since my iPad doesn't have AC wifi while my rMBP do.

updating progress about 80% now.

North America is hammering the downloads, now. If it was night there, Australia would be hammering the downloads... There will always be a bunch of people updating, if it's night time somewhere, it's day time elsewhere.

So about how long do we have until Apple stops signing 8.4.1? Considering upgrading to iOS 9 but would like a downgrade possibility.

Seems like they're never ready for these launches. Can't remember the last time I was able to confidently install an update on release day.
