They need to fix the user-made mp4 video issue that started with 13.4. I really wish I could roll back to 13.3. Can't watch non-iTunes movies anymore on the iPad. I'm about to sell it for a laptop but don't really want to go to a post office right now.
If you have the movies on a Mac try Air Video for streaming to an iPad. That works for me when viewing homemade MP4 videos on the iPad. I haven't "downloaded" videos to the iPad (to watch with Apple TV app) for a while but will try that out to see if I have your problem.

What iOS version broke everything?
[automerge]1586322137[/automerge]

You have to realize every device is not the same. One person problem is an improvement with another. Different regions as well as carriers. Not saying problems don’t exist, but it’s usually due to manufacturing. For example, an iPhone XR May have came from a bad batch when released. However, the same phone released after a million hit production may be just fine. Things happen in warehouses. Someone could have dropped device during production.

While true in theory, I think you are overlooking the fact that the recent update broke FaceTime for all devices and they had to release a patch on all devices to resolve. That is an Apple QA problem and not a manufacturing/isolated issue. That's just one example of many. Try as you may, you can't water down the fact that Apple QA has dropped the ball over the past few years. I'm a huge Apple fan btw.

I agree with you. Again Apple want everyone to buy the newest iPhone. The software could be full of bugs, but they already have your money.

Agree 100%, this is really starting to get ridiculous!

:apple:
So, don’t fix bugs or issues? Obviously better if bugs aren’t introduced in the first place, but has that ever happened in the history of software?

I still can't sync photos from Catalina 10.15.4 to iOS 13.4 using a lightning cable. Is that feature coming back in iOS 14?
Why are people still installing Catalina?
[automerge]1586477962[/automerge]
I do

I do agree, remember though Apple was caught slowing people phones down on purpose
[automerge]1586346255[/automerge]
I am still running an iPhone 6s Plus
Technically I suppose they were “slowing” down phones on purpose (are you French btw?), but (I cant believe no one can remember/was aware) that it was to stop shutdowns caused by batteries that were old/tired/abused. Apologies if you were being sarcastic, otherwise, seriously people?
My 2011 17” mbp is still on its original battery with no issues being reported, and I am aware it’s not a “phone”, but it does have a lithium battery (like a “phone”).

No I really do use an iPhone 6s Plus as my daily driver. I am not going to invest a bunch of money into a billion dollar company every year or two. I usually just replace the battery on my own. Besides, I rather have the head phone jack still.

Apple doesn't want people to buy the newest phones, and this has been publicly stated by Tim Cook. Of course, like other purchases: cars, jewelry, audiophile equipment, higher-end TVs etc, if you decide to buy the latest model every year, I'm sure the CEOs would not refuse to take your money. Apple earns revenue on services as well as hardware.

As far as bugs...all software is "full of bugs". Nature of the beast and all that.

So Apple would wants everyone to buy a new phone every year, which is a realistic expectation for the masses? No? They would clearly like that to happen, but then again so would every other manufacturer on the face of the earth that releases a product on a yearly basis.

If you don’t mind me asking, what iPhone do you use?

Since this update I’ve been having serious Bluetooth issues on my 11 Pro Max. My Bluetooth literally crashes when I try pairing devices. My Apple Watch seems connected but it doesn’t even transfer anything to it. I’m chatting with support but this sucks. I did not have any issues before.

I have an Xs Max, and going to see how the 2020 phones pan out.

Apples' business model is not built on a new phone every year. But let me not be daft by saying, no company would turn down recurring business.
That’s my point! Your iPhone problems won’t be similar to mine. Your phone came out 3 years later then mine. Tim Cook will say anything for publicity. Engineers know about the iOS problems soon as they release them. They hope users who own these devices don’t discover the bugs or planned obsolescence. Once it come out to light, they have to fix it because sales will go down. It’s all politics. If you are a political person, you will understand

While that's your opinion, I don't buy that line of thinking. Nor do I expect my iphone to be the high bar of perfect. This is not saying there are not bugs or errata in the hardware, but by and large, every iphone I've had functioned as I would expect.

I was using the awesome 6s+ till last October when my better half got sick of my hand me down 5s which I’d just replaced the battery in, as I wasn’t expecting to get another phone. I still can’t believe they took away my headphone jack, but the AirPods pro are also awesome.

Apple seams to have fixed the battery issue in 13.4.1. In 13.4 the battery performance degraded quite significantly over 13.3.1 (I would say by 20-25%). Now battery performance looks to be back where it previously was. I got 9h:40min screen on time during almost 2 days on my 11 Pro Max.

Since I updated my iPad Pro 10.5 to the 13.4.1 version, it restarts every three minutes. I tried every trick out there but to no avail. I'm not sure if I'm the only who has this issue.

Apple today released iOS and iPadOS 13.4.1, minor updates that come two weeks after the release of iOS and iPadOS 13.4, major updates that introduced iCloud Folder Sharing, a new Mail toolbar, trackpad support for the iPad, and more.

ryanscoolios13thumbnail.jpg

The iOS and ?iPadOS? 13.4.1 updates are available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. To access the updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update.

The update addresses an issue that prevented devices running iOS 13.4 from participating in FaceTime calls with devices running iOS 9.3.6 and earlier or OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 and earlier. It also fixes a bug in the settings app that could cause choosing Bluetooth from the quick actions menu on the Home screen to fail.

Discovered shortly after the release of iOS 13.4 and macOS 10.15.4, the FaceTime issue prevented iPhones, iPads, and Macs running these updates from making or receiving FaceTime calls from older devices that aren't able to upgrade, such as the iPad 2, third-generation iPad, iPhone 4S, the first-generation iPad mini, and the fifth-generation iPod touch.

It wasn't clear if the problem was caused by a bug or was intentional, but the fix included in today's update clarifies that Apple did not mean to remove the option for devices running iOS 13.4 to communicate with older devices. Full release notes for the iOS 13.4.1 update are below:The iPadOS 13.4.1 update fixes the same two issues, but also addresses a third bug that could cause the flashlight not to turn on on the new 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models after the Flashlight button in Control Center or the Lock screen is tapped.

iOS 13.4.1 could be one of the last updates to the iOS 13 operating system as Apple prepares to transition work to iOS 14. There will be at least one additional update, though, as Apple is already beta testing iOS 13.4.5.

DFU. Reinstall and start as new.
It didn't work. That this is a hardware problem is beyond me. Why? I installed some apps during the 3-min window I had, and I left Spotify running on lock screen. The iPad kept running but once unlocked, the problem resurges again. This is driving me nuts.

Is it a specific app that is the problem? Does it happen when its just apple software installed? I'd also reach out to Apple Support as well so they can run diagnostics...

It happens even without anything installed. Even during reset setup, it does this.

Apple Support suggested going to an authorized service but we are in lockdown. Sucks!

It's not app specific. The issue occurs even with no app installed.

They can run diagnostics via text message. Did they at least do that or have you enable remote support profile?
