Everything is perfect for me, except the lack of GPS.

I am planning a huge road trip in the middle of the year and was really hoping I could use the new Apple awesomeness.

It's the one thing it's missing for me.

All I can ask is.... why?

According to the tech specs on the Apple website, it does have GPS.

Hummm.... interesting comments from some.

I think people need to keep this in perspective. What's really cool about this and makes it MUCH better than other tablets is the details they've put into the UI and re-doing all the applications to take advantage of the larger screen.

And it's not just a bigger iPhone. It has real apps on it like iWork and therefore we can assume it will have others soon. The cool thing is the apps aren't just a "here it is... a bigger version of the iPhone apps" but apps built to take advantage of the larger format.

The price points are good. I'm sure there will be a 2.0 version before the end of the year that rocks even more.

I say cool and another great addition!

 So you were planning on paying for U.S. AT&T 3G over there, were you?

Here's a guess: I bet o2 is gonna charge you what o2 wants to charge you, not what AT&T is charging.

no, its a comparison. and exactly, o2 wants to charge us £7.50, which is the equivalent of about $12.50.

rip off, but yea go waste your money so steve can have his billions quarterly profits.

i'm wondering if its possible to use the iphone's internet connection thru bluetooth? but i think, no ;-)

All you do is jailbreak your iPhone and use MyWi to create a wireless network right on the phone the iPad can connect to :) Works great for my MBP.

I was 100 percent sure I wouldn't want one, but the RDF is strong.

Unlike the desktop, laptop, and iPhone, however, it's going to be hard for my gadget-loving self to convince my fiscally responsible self that this is a tool rather than just a toy.

I wanted to get excited over this, but all I can muster is a resounding "meh." Looks like it does everything an iPhone does...only less. Big screen and no-contract data is very cool though. So 140 something million iPhone and iPod touch owners already know how to use it...that's how many people have little use for this thing since they already have a device with the same functionality.

Looks great. I bet it really is great to use 'very natural' but really for me if I bought one it would be used for web surfing and thats pretty much it. And because I have an iphone thats with me all the time the actual need for the ipad is nil.

This is probably the first Apple product (since the MacMini) that I think wont do as well as they hoped. It wont be bad but not great. Theres just no real 'killer' app.

Micro Sim

The micro-SIM is going to be a real pain in the bottom. A regular SIM in this and it would have been really handy. I am constantly changing countries and being able to use local SIMs is really handy for keeping my international data charges down. I hope these become widely available as PAYG micro-SIMs.

Really not sure anymore if this is for me.

Hmmm, need to see what the UK offer looks like.

I was also hoping for MBP 13" refreshes.

It will be interesting to see how people find them when they buy them. Suspect I will wait and see as I have mixed feelings about this. All in all, not bad.

utter garbage.
64gb, 1gHz, no camera, massive bezel, nothing new at all, for $829???
$30 a month for 3g? no thanks, o2 can do unlimited data in the UK for £7.50. I've got my own wifi at home. I would rather have a proper LAPTOP, or a macbook for like $50 more

f*ck you steve, you robbing c*nt. no wonder you reported $4bn quarterly profit.

I hate to break it to you buddy, but increasing Apple's profits is Steve's JOB! Apple is very successful with its mobile consumer devices. Maybe you should start your own company to make the types of devices you would buy? Let's see how successful you are at that.

Too much bezel in the device, waste of real estate. If they could shrink the case to fit the display better it would be more beneficial.

Remember your comment in a year from now

Nice but where the heck is this meant to fit in the market. It is too big and expensive to replace a phone (not to mention the fact that it doesn't have calling) but it definitely can't replace a computer at only 64gb and not running most mac apps. So where does this come in? The netbook market. Rich dudes who can afford an iPhone several macs and this. I'm sorry but its a sweet product with no market. Not great for business, developers, or games because touch screen keyboards just don't cut it. I don't think movie producing, digital art, or music will be very succesfull on the device because it's hardware can't handle much. But you gotta hand it to them. The web browsing looks sweet and very Mac OSexy ! Yeah, I just said that.

Also I really wanted iPhone OS 4.0 but I guess I knew that wassn't going to happen anyway. I very excited to test in in march though.:D

So overall, great idea :apple:, but Steve I don't think this is "The most important thing I've ever done." There is simply no market for it, but I can definitely see loads of awesome fun apps and it will be fun to play around with, but I'm not sure where this thing is going.

Typical... "ITunes will never work", "Apple Stores will fail", "Iphone will not work"... With people like you, no wonder we still have Windows and Microsoft and crap material from Dell...
