even if we could change the carrier update...does anyone have MMS enabling on the carrier update for AT&T? I wonder why they took it out?

Well this update went a lot better then beta 4.

It updates without issue so I have a working Developer iPhone again. :D

i have had it working some times on 1 2 3 never bothered to try on 4 it still seems that i have the option to just not the right settings on att's side. (i have to switch out sims for a little)

they probably took it out because its not supported yet.

Because Apple said they didn't want people to use the MMS. AT&T probably bitched at them and said their warnings weren't working. So, an "update" was released (suddenly out of the blue, I might add) to put an end to this. That's kind of sad for the developers that really needed it (for whatever reason).

True, but do you think it will be disabled in the final release?

...and do you think there will be another beta? I guess I'd revert until another "real" beta is released.

No it will exist in the final release. They would receive alot of complaints if they took it out. Besides why would they remove it for the final release? Its probably just the carriers complaining that they aren't set up for it yet.

I would think it would be available - Apple said so during the keynote. I thought AT&T just didn't want it used yet and people were abusing it by prematurely using it. Heck, people were signing up to be "developers" just to have the early use of MMS. However, Apple has in the past removed promised features from betas for the final public release.

That bit about losing data service scares me.

I know. I'm still hooked up via wi-fi so I hope mine is good tomorrow when I leave the realm of wi-fi.

Just a note, feel free to discuss the beta in this thread but please refrain from posting links or methods on how to illegitimately get the beta be it iTunes or the iPhone OS. We have no problem with discussion of added or removed features.

Hrm, alright, with the option to patch carrier settings disabled in this beta (beta 5); I should only update (cmd+click update) my iPhone (currently running beta 4, with carrier settings patched) as oppose to restore, correct?

Are the Sync Google/Yahoo contacts options in the "Info" section in iTunes syncing new or did I miss that before?

post in here again if that works. I *can't* lose tethering.

why cant iTunes backup my Apps location on the springboard. I hate having to move things back in order. Is it me or do others experience this problem?

Yes. Update, but I wouldn't upgrade to the new iTunes either...to be safe.

According to a source I cannot vouch for, iTunes 8.2 beta 10 isn't necessary to upgarde/install the beta 5 into your iPhone/iPod touch. You can keep using the same iTunes 8.2 build that came with beta 4.

AGAIN: the source I have isn't a confirmed source. If you can confirm here (before I can), please do.

This is true. I upgraded iTunes after upgrading to beta 5.
