Apple Releases iPhone OS 3.0

Apple never charged me for the iPod touch 3.0 update and I don't know why! Thanks :apple:, free stuff is always welcomed!

Alright, so quick question, I'm at work right now, and I want to start playing around with the 3.0. Can I update my iPhone here with a work PC and still be able to sync with my powerbook at home?

Just to chime in...

Downloading... (last week)
Installing... (last week)

DONE! (last week)

Hehehehe. I'm a buttface.

YEY !!!! 3.0 installed and working !!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Don't think I'll bother getting the update for my touch. None of the new features seem worthwhile to me, I'll spend the £5.99 on apps instead!

Are you kidding?

Tons of awesome apps and/or updates to those apps will require 3.0 really soon.

Downloaded fine - installed fine ... taking FOREVER to re-boot ... but almost done.

Done ... and all the new goodies are there - time to go explore

Anyone else finding backing up takes forever?! - well about 5 minutes...
Also - apparently the Skype app is not OS 3.0 ready yet.

New icon???

Does anyone know what the little phone icon with the arrow pointing out is in the upper left hand corner??
John

I'd still like to know what Apple meant by if you download the GM version that came out last week, it would lock your phone in test mode. Is that the same as debug mode, therefore slowing down the phone overall? Does the version that came out today remove that test mode lockdown, even though they are the same build?

That warning applied to the pre-release beta versions. The GM is the same as the version released today. Restoring your iPhone from beta to GM removed the DEV UDID restriction.
