my 2G 3.0 phone is also very laggy..
I don't have the other stuff..
what I think we should do is wait for quickpwn to be released and restore to 3.0 then jailbreak/activate. I think that would fix it.
And then we restore from the backup (I don't want to lose my SMS :p)

Do you think it'll help?

Has anyone has an issue with their ringtones not showing up? They are selected to sync in iTunes, but they do not shop up on my phone. They were there before i upgraded.

My whole iPod library disappeared, re-sync with iTunes

I don't have notifications in settings page and I've sync 'd and resarted several times??? anyone else .... on 2 iphone 3g

I keep getting the update server is not available as well... So excited when I got home... Just to be hit with this message... Smells like a repeat of last year!

Quick question for all you fast-internet'd updaters. It'll take all night to download the update here in Jordan anyway (we're GMT+2) so I guess I'll just wait til tomorrow.

The most important thing for me is Arabic Language support. The old firmware disconnected the letters, and in some case even put them left to right: backwards for Arabic.

So if could someone could try adding the Arabic keyboard to their iPhone 3.0, and testing it for me - if it looks like this:

ماك رومارز

then it's good - but if it looks like م ا ك ر و م ا ر ز - with all those spaces - then it's still busted.

(and yes, that says "mac rumors" in arabic. or more specifically, "mak roomarz")

Check out this link: http://www.pcworld.com/article/166845/hands_on_with_apples_iphone_30_software_update.html

They have a screenshot of the keyboard in Arabic with resulting output.

HTH.

Download an app like AP Mobile and the notifications settings will appear.

Haven't seen a push notification yet, but I suppose there hasn't been breaking news yet :)

Not working in Australia

From Melbourne we can download the iPhone software, however we cannot do the installation, it says:

The iphone "xyz" cannot be updated at this time
because the iPhone activation server is temporarily
unavailable.

Is this a common problem?

For ****s sake apple get your **** together, you knew everyone would upgrade at once, unacceptable.

I'm from Lebanon and I've had the 3.0 software for a week now. I don't use the arabic keyboard since I don't write anything in arabic nor do I text in arabic but I have received many arabic texts seeing we had elections last week and all political parties wanted me to vote for whoever they had running in my district.
Anyway, the msgs they sent were all disconnected but after updating to 3.0, they kinda fixed themselves up and now you have an arabic keyboard where you can write sentences that are connected and u can also fix the alignment. It's kinda neat :)

Man, how is it that I just never have a problem updating my iPhone? It's like I know what I'm doing or something. Strange.

I JUST finished updating, and the download took no longer than 3 minutes, the only lengthy part was backing up my iPhone (which took about 15 minutes for some reason). Once that was done, it updated to 3.0, and was up and running in about 10 minutes. Total time = less than 30 minutes from start to finish. I did it on my lunch break.

For everyone else having issues.....maybe it's user error? My friend who lives in the same city had the same experience, no issues and speedy download.

Subtle 3.0 feature I just noticed: go into email inbox and scroll up past uppermost email. There's a search form hidden there. Works just like Spotlight, type and the results start showing up. Awesome.

Surprise Surprise, the servers are struggling to cope with the hundreds of thousands or even millions of people who want V.3 NOW! If you really can't wait then please stop whingeing about server capacity, try your luck and if it works great, if not then take a chill pill and try again tomorrow, it will still be there.

If you really expect Apple to multiply their server capacity by hundreds of times just for the occasional iPhone update then you are living in LaLa land

Love the NEW CALL FORWARD icon on the top

Still wish there was a shortcut to be able to turn Forwarding ON/OFF easier (Since AT&T SUCKS at my house).

The new icon is really helpful so that I can remember to turn off the forwarding when I leave the house. So many times I would forget and not be reachable (except by text) for the whole day.

3.0 was a little slow at first until I restarted the phone. So far, loving it!!
:)

well nearly 4 hours waiting for my iphone to work after the download... still the same message after the install is done... what a joke. Only emergancy calls, what goods that to me

Tethering works!...posting this via USB tethering. Wonder what billing implications will be though (no bolt-on)
That is good news... for you. I mean that tethering works for you. I however cannot find the setting anymore, so it is either moved or disabled for certain providers. It's probably the latter, but it is still good news as there must be ways to enable it... and with a crowbar if I have to ;)
