Original Iphone, No Battery Percent Indicator In 3.0?

hey everyone, i have an iphone 2g (original) just upgraded to 3.0 and i can't figure out how to change the battery to the percent sign. can anyone tell me how?

Ok i was stupid. I tried to do the download and install with little battery left. While it was backing up, my battery died. I'm home now and im installing. when it was backing up, someone called. then it got interrupted. now im backing up again and its so slow... there is no progress bar or anything...

Ok guys so im really having trouble...

So most of you may be aware of my situation from my rants throughout this thread but for those who havent bascially....

I updated to 3.0 just after 6pm UK time, the update downloaded fine and i went through the install. BUT! when it came to restart the iphone and go to the activation im now getting the -9807 message explained previously... now my phone is only able to make emergency calls...

So i really need to go out now because i need my phone to pick someone up from a concert... i need some help. Is there a way to downgrade back down to the previous update otherwise my phone is just dead and has been for 4 hours now! Its just stupid.:confused:

I think those of us with the -9807 error are out of luck. We seem to be having a different problem than those who were able to eventually get through.

I downloaded the full 230mb update, but I can't install because activation servers were unavailable?! Gah! A local software install shouldn't require any outside server contact - activation, if necessary, should occur after the install.:mad::mad:

Mine downloaded quickly too, and backed up quick. Just wont authenticate with the stupid iTunes server.

Reckon someone pulled the plug by accident.

Anybody noticed the subtle difference when sending an SMS?

The keyboard doesn't black out anymore - just a small progress bar at the top of the window.

Shame - kinda liked it before

You kidding? It's definitely better now. It adds your message to the overall conversation faster so you can view the conversation instead of just having a huge "sending" image across the screen.

Problem is, if you install first, then it wont authenticate, you have a worthless brick on your hands until it does.

I had no problems downloading it. I just can't get past this:

I know... whats the hell is wrong... we get punished for being one of the first to get the update... now people are complaining about features on the phone and not getting the update.... well we can't even use our phones!!!

Still getting the error... just trying and trying all night long!

I had the same problem. I had to cancel the back up. I wonder if anyone else is having this problem.

I haven't tried rebooting the phone since the install did it, or restoring the phone.

i got an error (9) during update from itunes while my iPhone was at around 15% update.
its at 100% now but not doing anything more..

What should i do ?

I finally got past this with a hack I found on the internet. Start the update and whilst it is unpacking disconnect you internet connection. Whilst the firmware is updating re-connect.

Mine worked and the phone seem to activate itself over the AT&T network.

This worked for me. Thanks!

ohhh apple.. another launch gone bad....

same thing with the original iphone, 3g iphone and the 2.0 update

not again... waiting for server to come back up on hour 2 with the rest of you

I could really go for some more doublestuf oreos.. mine are all gone

True. It shouldn't be necessary to "authenticate" at all, IMO.

EDIT: Mine still can't contact the server.

Isn't that just a 3G S option?... like the compass, video recording, etc... at least that's what some people are saying...

that's such ********, just like the video recording, mms, and stereo bluetooth ( i imagine at least) all the iphone models can do it with jailbreaking, but apple won't let you? i can understand the batter drain, but that should be the users choice i think.
