Apple Releases iPhone OS 3.0

That is basically the exact opposite of what tethering is.

Correcto. Not sure what the OP was thinking at all.
Like somebody else said, if you want to use your mac's Internet connection, you can enable that in the sharing section of your system preferences.

If the WiFi chipset on your iPod Touch is broken, you're our of luck though.

Mmm alright I finally updated my iPhone and now I got the next problem. My SIM PIN is not working?! What the hell. I am on T-Mobile in The Netherlands.

'Shake to Shuffle' is a horribly lame idea, hopefully it can be disabled.

They also have 'Shake to Undo'?? Jesus Apple, shaking is not a desirable input method.
How many times is something you did going to disappear without you even knowing due to the phone being moved around?

That's a non-issue. You need to shake it pretty hard.

Finally. And while I waited, I managed to watch the MST3K versions of Riding With Death, The Horror of Party Beach, and twenty minutes of Devil Doll. Nicely done, Apple.

my iphone 3G is very very slow in 3.0

even the Ferrari GT game runs extremely slow

wasnt this firmware supposed to speed up the phone

I don't know why I would need push on Tap Tap Revenge 2. Didn't even check it out, but it has push. And tell me again why AIM wouldn't? Goodness...

I don't even have a tag in the setting app. I've seen pictures of what it's supposed to look like. there should be a tag under my wifi right???

Thats because those are just the normal settings, you have to start a app that supports push and it will appear ;)

Release date by product

Should have had seperate release dates by product; iPhone vs. iPod Touch. Looks like a fairly even mix in the forums.

So basically us AT&T saps will need another update to activate the camera icon and the internet tethering option at that point, correct? I don't know how else it can remotely just start working like that otherwise.

Oh yeah, forgot to address that part of your question... Yes this will require an update on your part. The question is whether AT&T will push one out and iTunes will find it eventually and notify you or whether you will have to fill out a form somewhere on their site or in iTunes that says "yes! I've upgraded to 3.0" which will then send the ipcc update. That's the jist of it, since it requires a change on their end as well.

Or, AT&T could just say screw it and basically mandate users upgrade to 3.0; if you received an MMS and hadn't upgraded, it would be delivered but I'm guessing iPhone OS 2.2 wouldn't hear it and thus wouldn't notify you of it. I wonder if the MMS protocol has an ACK packet - so then AT&T could determine if your phone is MMS-ready remotely and if not send you an SMS telling you to upgrade to 3.0 to see MMSs being sent to you.

Is it just me or is shutting down the iPhone after the update really slow? Also when starting up, it goes to the lock screen as oppose to the main menu.

dL

my iphone 3G after the update is very slow

i am trying a restore hoping it may fix it

i happy now...:D

I'm wondering how the wifi auto-login is a new feature in 3.0?

The previous version used to log me into my wifi at home automatically and any other wifi spots I had logged into before.
