Push Notifications

Yes the push notifications will be on the bottom of the wifi. You need to have a program such as tap tap revenge to enable it. once you run the program it will ask you if you would like to add push notifications. It will then appear under the wifi logo

Oh yeah, forgot to address that part of your question... Yes this will require an update on your part. The question is whether AT&T will push one out and iTunes will find it eventually and notify you or whether you will have to fill out a form somewhere on their site or in iTunes that says "yes! I've upgraded to 3.0" which will then send the ipcc update. That's the jist of it, since it requires a change on their end as well.

Or, AT&T could just say screw it and basically mandate users upgrade to 3.0; if you received an MMS and hadn't upgraded, it would be delivered but I'm guessing iPhone OS 2.2 wouldn't hear it and thus wouldn't notify you of it. I wonder if the MMS protocol has an ACK packet - so then AT&T could determine if your phone is MMS-ready remotely and if not send you an SMS telling you to upgrade to 3.0 to see MMSs being sent to you.

Thank you for the response. That makes sense.

I'm wondering how the wifi auto-login is a new feature in 3.0?

The previous version used to log me into my wifi at home automatically and any other wifi spots I had logged into before.

From what I heard, yes it is, but it did the same thing for me too with the older version.

theres no setting for push? not even the one for email? kinda weird.. my email is pushing but theres no popup to lettme know...

I don't have time to read the whole thread yet, but is anyone having a lot of trouble connecting to App Store over 3G? It's taking about a full 90 seconds of beach balling before anything is shown and another 90 sec to look for updates. And then updates are timing-out.

There servers are very slow with millions of people trying to download 3.0 all at once

Has nothing to do with 3G. has to do with millions of us all trying to update our software now that we're home form work. Everyone, every conneciton is having trouble

There should also probably be a new release of AIM soon that has push-notifications. Developers got to test it for 7 days a couple of weeks ago.

Any moment now, actually.

Did the Aim update come up? Cause there is still no Beejive update, if AIM is up how does it work?

I tell ya, the Cell Networks are slow! Sending a Voice Memo to my own email, (1.5mb) -- 15mins +

Can't get onto the App Store yet, nor iTunes.

Hopefully things will get better!
Then everything will be down again Friday!

Will everyone just stop trying to update for a second, so I can update mine? Cheers! :D

Starting attempt number 8...

Attempt 8???? at about 108 here in London. Can't even log into the store, let alone download. accepted my login once, then timed out whilst backing up iPod Touch. Since then...jack s***.

I don't even have a tag in the setting app. I've seen pictures of what it's supposed to look like. there should be a tag under my wifi right???

Yes. It is right below the Wi-Fi icon. It is a black icon with a red dot in the center named Notifications which let you turn push on or off for each application.

Anyone else getting this?

I swear to God if someone tells me to look through 30 pages of posts...

I think I'll wait a little while before trying any upgrades. I've not synched to an iTunes library in over a month - as I was shifting to a different computer. I'm not looking forward to restoring my music library.

+1 yeey

Couldn't connect to the apple server for a while (or something like that), but now it worked, and it's all updated. It bumped my last icon from the main screen though, in favor of the Voice Memos app. Grr :)

OK.. so far it seems like that the voice recorder is not responding very good. Something that is not reported which is cool now on the missed calls and received calls it shows wither the call was from Mobile or otherwise. Which is really cool. I was looking forward to delete individual calls from the list of calls received or made but it is not possible. Some where I read that would be something I could do with this update.

Perhaps the "individual deletion" feature only applies to the Text Messages...
