Apple Releases iPhone OS 3.0

Does the new high contrast/accessibility option only come on the 3GS? I can't find it on my 3G after the update.

If it's only on the 3GS, then all I can say is another WTF Apple?

The only thing good in Dis-gust-a is the Masters, and it's better on TV (no fahrr-ants). Also anything other than "Coke" is unacceptable and is grounds for dismissal.

I have visited the Pacific NW several times (my wife is from Seattle outskirts) and it is absolutely wonderful. They don't speak as slow there (must be the coffee) but you can't beat the scenery and clean air! If I had to move from he-ah, that would be top of my list for places to stay.

No but seriously, the humidity and heat suck, and can only be combated with a nice glass of sweet tea and a hop into Lake Al-uh-toon-uh 😉

Yes, different apps can be different colors, the keyboard is the same, but the facebook app is different from the notes app is different for the youtube app.

You're right about Al-uh-toon-uh, and it's much nicer when it's full like this year. You didn't need to specify sweet tea, as far as I'm concerned there's only 1 kind of tea in the south.

I think I'll get my boat and go in......Thanks for the suggestion!

Yes I am glad the so called "drought" is over. It used to be miserable.

Although now our lil' beach area (if you can even call Georgia red clay a beach) has become more of a lil' cliff area. The 'beach' got submerged, making it that much harder to get our canoe in the lake... what a shame...
 
new and old bugs

I am having trouble with the following incase anyone else is as well:

1. getting notes to sync.. They are not showing up in mail.
2. Getting all my contacts to sync (this was a problem with all previous firmwares too)
3. And for some reason Calendars and contacts are syncing both over the air and via USB. You can select the ability to display "All from my mac" or "All from ........@me.com" account or BOTH! Very confusing at first. I just want everything to sync over the air. Is it possible to turn off USB syncing??

Download was a snap (glad I waited until tonight).
Then during the update process ... frozen.
Got impatient; killed iTunes. Restart iTunes, restore iPhone.
Hopefully 2nd time's a charm 😉
 
This had better fix my wireless issues I've been having since 2.2.1. Or Apple will be hearing from me soon.
 
1/2 hour to update/install at 6:30pm ET, went flawlessly on my 1st gen but the phone is getting hot when updating apps?!?😱
 
Has anybody been able to sync notes? Just to clarify, this is the notepad app that is on the phone correct? Not the notes within mail?

I have the boxed check "sync notes" and hit the apply button. I have been stuck for the past 20minutes while my iPhone backs up.

Well, my 3.0 update went perfectly! (sorry for everyone that didn't have a good update!)

Im liking the update, sometimes going from portrait to landscape view in mail takes a while, but its liveable. Loving the copy and paste and shaking to untype/retype (that with landscape mode will save time when writing emails/texts). I've tried the "Find My Phone" indoors at work and it generally get down to about 100m of its position (im sure outside it will be better, plus turning on 3G will help).

Overall its things that you could argue should have been in the last update to keep it up to speed with other smart phones, but im not racing to update to the S just yet (even if it could!!)........although, better battery life is always a bonus, it means i could actually keep 3G on all day (but that's another thread.....)

And if you're motorboating.....watch out for the driftwood. They're hell on a propeller!

Signal strength is far worse. My room is one story above where my router is, and I used to get full signal no matter what, now i'm lucky to get 2🙁

Isnt this option in iTunes under a tab? I look at it this morning and it has a tick box for syncing via USB. Mine syncing is via ME.com so my checkboxes are empty and it say something like "your syncing via mobileme".

Just a thought, as maybe the box is tick as well.

I just took a closer look at what you described and yes I needed to uncheck those boxes so that it would sync over the air only. Apple should change the layout of those options. Because at first glance it looked like nothing was being synced to me.

I did uncheck those boxes, however the "duplicates" are still showing on my phone. Weird.

GOT the NOTES to finally sync though.

Hmm.. that is weird... I haven't lost any strength yet. My router is in the other room thou... it has always been pretty strong. I am assuming yours was strong to begin with.....

I've been getting random dropouts since I upgraded to 2.2.1. Signal hasn't been a problem for me, but if 3.0 is worse at that there will be issues, since I have a very weak signal already.
 
3.0 Backups are CRAZY SLOW!

They had this slow back up issue before and resolved it... 10-15 minutes to back up is soo not acceptable. .... Maybe it'll be better on my 3GS when it shows up on Friday.

Well it finally worked... all of my notes are now synced.... I don't know what I did.. but it toooook forever to sync 256 notes! 🙂

Yes, wifi signal is weaker!!!! And it sucks!! They probably did that to save battery juice, just guessing!!

I noticed this too.. however once everything was synced and has been synced, my backups are as quick as they were on the last go around of software updates. But the first couple did take a while to finish syncing.
