Thanks to all the posts today. Some see it as a bunch of griping and complaining. I saw it as learning tool, and it helped!

Off to play with my new options. Good luck all, and try the above, I promise it worked.

Are you in the US on AT&T? If you are then you can't do that yet. MMS has not been enabled for US users at this time.

You will need the iPhone 3G S+ for that. Customizing text message sounds requires improved hardware, which sadly, the 3G S doesn't support.

Update seems pretty soft for us EDGE owners, not sure if it was worth the update or not.

Wait a minute, how could customizing a text message sound require improved hardware? Was that actually stated for a fact somewhere, because I find that hard to believe. If you can customize your ringtone, why couldn't you customize a text alert sound? Hell I can even make some things up in Garage Band and make it a ringtone. I would think if I can do that, then the hardware on the 3G could handle it. If this is in fact true, it's pretty sad; i mean I could customize text alerts on other phones I had, that were not even "smart phones".

Oh, Snap!

Snappier General Performance, with Offsets

Though it’s hard to quantify, iPhone OS 3.0 feels a little more responsive than its predecessors

Dang, snappy makes the main page.

I'm upgrading now, since my REAL phone is stuck in Louisville. :D

Aloha,
Im in California at the moment and that stinks AT&T should of had this ready. I guess we all have to wait. I'm wondering if 3g S will have it enabled?
Mahalo~

?

Anyone - when in landscape mode SMS - it does not seem to allow you to tap outside the 'keypad' in order to scroll thru the conversation and read much easier... Seems as tho you have to go out of specific message and go back in and then it keeps the keypad hidden until you press at bottom to initiate a response.

Maybe I am missing something - but it seems as tho you should be able to tap outside the keypad and the keypad should disappar...

???

I read something somewhere after WWDC when ATT was being bombarded with questions about this, and it seems that Apple moved up the release date for the 3Gs and software 3.0 and AT&T wasn't ready, I guess because they were planning on that later release date, but this was not stated for a fact, though when an ATT exec was asked specifically if that is what happened he said "no comment". I tend to believe that when someone says no comment, there is something behind the "rumor". Anyways yeah it sucks, it's something that should have been here with 2.0 (hell should have been here with 1.0). For all the snazzy things the iPhone did upon initial launch back in 2007 I still feel apple left out some pretty basic features. But it is less important now since we have a lot of what was missing then!

Hell I can't get it to do that in portrait mode! It's just a function of how they built it. It doesn't make sense, but I believe it's been like this since day 1 back in '07!

I was being sarcastic.

Nope, not on 3G-S either. Hold up is with AT&T having systems ready. That is funny because my AT&T Blackberry (work phone) can send MMS.

México store still not have 3.0

In Mexico's store still isn't possible to download the 3.0 update.

All this looong day I was reading the same error once and again.

Painful.

And more painful not to have a real iTunes Music Store here yet.

Battery Indicator???

What the heck, where's the battery indicator that shows The remaining time? Am I missing something?

im in america using an english O2 iphone. I am downloading the new software and wanted to know if i should update while i am in the US.

Is there any reason why i shouldnt do this? Has anyone before updated while in a foreign country???

Wow! Find My Phone is kind of creepy. I turned it on to check it out and damn! I think I will create a new mobile.me password just to be on the safe side.

Just finished the update. took over an hour of trying with itunes store errors before I got in, but it went off without a hitch. iPod Touch now running 3.0. And I'm loving seeing the voice memo option present because I have the microphone headphones.

Ok, someone please tell me I am overlooking something because I am seeing 2x podcast playback and .5x playback and the standard 1x playback, but why the heck is there no 1.5x? .5x seems useless, 2x is not tolerable. But I would certainly love to be able to listen to a 45 minute podcast in 30 minutes and have it be a reasonable compromise between 1x and 2x.

My only other complaint is that now with no much of the OS able to run in landscape, it seems like a no brainer for Apple to have made the springboard landscape capable too. I'd love to be able to run mostly in landscape and switch to portrait when needed rather than the other way around.

Loving the search function. Very well implemented and a nice addition.

have there always been two keyboards? There's the light keyboard that is in the Messages app and there's a darker keyboard that I found on the Chase app.

Anyone else want to weigh in on this? I haven't heard anything about it, but I feel like I've heard every last detail of 3.0 already...

After many failed attempts (iTunes error- 4) I got it!!!

and I love it!!! :D

although I wish the notes sync worked with stickies, as opposed to note in Mail. Idk, I just prefer stickies because they are more convenient for me, and it never really made sense to me why notes would be in a Mail app... maybe it's just me. :p

Another OS update from Apple hosing the hardware it was installed upon... Just effin' great!

No contacts, no sms history, no photos, no music etc. Factory clean so to speak. Could've at least told me you would erase it all when doing an update!

I've bought my last piece Apple cr*p! Hope they'll enjoy their 29 billion I'm not giving them another cent (or 'öre' in my case). Thanks, Apple, you're such a dependable company today!

iTunes keeps a backup every time you sync. Restore from the backup and your lost data should be recovered.

And don't forget to relax.
