So far beta 4 is a major improvement over the last three betas. Apps work without crashing and it doesn't seem slow anymore. I have a 3G phone, no backgrounds and no tethering option.

Run a reset of your network settings to bring up the tethering option.

Anybody using Beta 4 on a 3G iPod touch?

I don't have any wallpapers, when I go into the Wallpaper settings all I get is a white screen.

Anyone?

Is this a new addition to the SDK? Or am i crazy?
720P?

Full AVRCP

I hope this build supports full AVRCP. I use bluetooth headphones a lot and it's frustrating that all I can do is pause/start... no ffwd or back.

And where's the To-Do support???? Missing in OS 4 Beta... but was rather worthless in OS 3. Seems dumb to omit 2 pretty common features that most other smartphones have had for a long time.

Group Message Toggle

Does anyone know what the group message toggle does?

Does it send the message to multiple users, and then if they reply, all users are copied??

Thanks,

Jordan

I just installed beta 4 on my 3rd Gen iPod touch, and when I go to wallpaper in Settings, there are no wallpapers at all. It's completely blank. Is anyone else with a 3rd Gen iPod touch having this same issue?

Internet tethering option? Didn't notice this on beta3.

I'm sure we saw the exact same set-up options in OS3, without that AT&T pop-up. (different network obviously, but the button and display was there ages back)

No way. Is this true? I have wanted this for SO LONG. Always seemed retarded to me that they did this for Calendar but not for Weather.

I know other great weather apps have been doing notification icons with the temperature, but not actually modifying the icon itself. We need a screenie!

details?

anyone got a comprehensive list of all the new features on their way, from 4.0 beta 1 right up to this beta 4? would love to see a simple list of what's on it's way. thanks

Anyone else have a Bug Reporter bookmark added to Safari? I just saw it on my Mac and I'm guessing it came from syncing with the phone.

Yes, I am too.

Must be a bug.

Don't see it in Keyboard settings. I'll check the dev forums for mentions of it. That's where Gizmodo copies and pastes it's stuff from.

EDIT: Found where they got the screenshot from but as the poster says it's only enabled for the Japanese Ten Key keyboard. I'm not sure if you have to be using that keyboard for it to suggest your custom words.

One thing I would want is the dock to be more solid , I like the current one but i like not to be able to see my wallpaper though my dock it's just weird. Any one else feel the same way? I like it like my Macs dock

I don't believe much is planned for 2nd Generation iPod Touch or iPhone 3G users. Updated email and folders is probably about the extent of it. Why they could not at least add wallpaper? I assume holding things like that back will encourage people to upgrade to a newer device.

Of course they want you to upgrade? Not many devices prior to the iPhone let you hold on to the same one and upgrade the OS...my Palm pilot had a couple bug fixes...same with nokia and sony ericcson phones...........you don't get new features until you purchase a new device. now iPhones, and Blackberries and androids let you upgrade without the purchase of new hardware, and when ur hardware (that's now 2-3 years old [ancient in the tech world]) doesn't support some features (that would make the entire device run slower [which you wouldn't hesitate to b!tch about] if they were included) you throw a hissy.

Based on what exactly? It's just another fortnightly beta release, who knows how many more there will be.

GM is the final release. They won't release the GM before WWDC (7/6/10) because the GM will include code for the next gen iPhone and they don't want developers giving away anymore features. Expect the GM after WWDC but before the new iPhone is on sale

The GM for 3.0 was released at least 2-3 days earlier than the official release on iTunes.
