So back to my original question before the troll got ahold.

Can you upgrade to this Beta via a PC? Or is it still Mac only?

I think it's possible. Although paid iPhone developers are only allowed to download this. So this is not an issue because no one will sign up as a developer if they don't have mac.

It was released while I was asleep.

Can anyone see if this persists? In Beta 3 when you went from the Genre list in iPod the list of artists didn't have an All Artists item at the top. Basically, this meant that you couldn't shuffle a genre very easily.

Small detail, but if you open an app thats inside a folder, when you click home it returns you to the open folder instead of homescreen. Guess it should improve workflow

I don't seem to have group messaging option (which I could really do with). Is that because of my carrier (O2/UK) ? Anybody else in UK have it ?

Nice...they used the word "snappier" in the article. So English is a second language at gizmodo too?

Erm... it is a word... Used regularly in England by English people who speak English as their first language. Not quite sure what your point was...

Is beta4 stable enough now that you would recommend it for someones main phone? Main apps I use on daily basis are Tweetie 2, Instapaper and Ping (as well as the apple ones). Could cope without the others for a couple of weeks if it meant the option of screen lock. Does anyone else know if these work well on this release?

Thanks

Am I the only one that had their 4.0 beta3 3GS's battery go from 100% to 0% in a matter of hours even whilst sleeping?

I only just downgraded to 3.1.3 a few hours ago. :/

I get a couple of days with beta3 on my 3Gs' battery. Bluetooth off, everything else on.

No custom wallpapers for 3G users.. Don't think it will ever come to 3G. No multitasking aswell.. So 3G users don't have an orientation lock. There are new wallpapers for the lockscreen though... Tethering works for me, on my 3G, but I'm from Belgium.
The bug with the zoomfunction on the 3G is resolved. But my phone still craashes when zooming in on a photo downloaded in Safari. Don't have group messaging option.

Ha. That guy wasn't a troll, just his English wasn't great. You can't be an iPhone developer on a PC - you have to have a Mac to use Xcode and all the other tools. So no, you're not involved with iPhone development so stop pretending that you are. You paid some guy a few bucks to be put on his developer account, be honest at least.

Apple has no interest in making the betas work with Windows - no true iPhone developer is using a PC for development

It looks like GM will be coming very soon - definitely before 7/6/10...
Expect the final on*7/6/10 ;)

Based on what exactly? It's just another fortnightly beta release, who knows how many more there will be.

GM is the final release. They won't release the GM before WWDC (7/6/10) because the GM will include code for the next gen iPhone and they don't want developers giving away anymore features. Expect the GM after WWDC but before the new iPhone is on sale

No new wallpaper for me, just a blank white screen.

Ah well, maybe i'll redownload.

Hope you can change your dock to 2D view like OSX, god I despise that glass shelf.

mine doesn't have internet tethering option, but I did notice there is a profile set up and it is "Team Provision Profile" and it says received May 19, 2010 expires Aug 17, 2010.
