WIFI-Sync is terrible on a 3GS, the battery dies so fast, even if I'm not at home. Clearly this is a bug that needs an update.

I turned it off and things are fine again.

Canada isn't getting iTunes music and TV stuff in the cloud yet, right? US only first?

Damn. I was hoping to clean my library of non-iTunes-bought music by deleting everything and getting my purchases back from iCloud.

old wifi chip in there that's not very energy efficient. it's not a bug

I just found out that the 3GS won't support the location reminders. That kind of.. defeats the whole point of the reminders app.

Show me any phone manufacturer that has ever released a new OS that is compatible two hardware releases back... minus a few features.

Better yet..... show me any phone manufacturer that has released a new OS that is compatible one hardware release back with any features.

if only I could do the iOS 5 upgrade OTA. Unless it's a midnight release I'm stuck carrying a laptop on my early flight tomorrow and the entire trip JUST so I can update one last time via wired sync. sigh... can't have everything

Couldn't read all posts. But - as far as I understood the matching only takes place in the cloud? So, if I am some were without internet connection I cannot get to the music correct? I won't get a physical copy onto my local iTunes?

I thought WiFi Sync activity was limited to when you're on a power source (or at least had that option)?

If not, will all the new features of iCloud and iOS 5 work running on the latest version of SL? I think I'm running 10.6.8

iCloud isn't supported on SL, it will require 10.7.2. An update to 10.6.9 is rumored, but nothing official from Apple either way yet.

Yeah it's probably time to update to Lion. I said I was gonna wait till 10.7.2 or 7.3 but I'm still in love with SL. It's so stable running on my 8GB of RAM that I updated to couple months ago.

If I wasn't an iPhone user I'd probably wait another six months or so until to upgrade to Lion.

Hopefully an updated to SL 10.6.9 will make it so that I don't have to upgrade to Lion to use iCloud/wifi sync features

Wi-Fi syncing was one of my most anticipated features, but it turns out that it sucks. Your iPhone/iPad still has to be plugged into a power source. Cut the cord my butt.

The didn't say wireless charging. It really makes sense to initiate the wireless sync when it connects to a charger.... that is typically when the phone is put to bed for the night and will have lots of time to backup and sync changes.

BTW I think they still have wires inside the iPhone too <GASP>

Well, both exist. You will have your iCloud backup of your device, as well as a local backup in iTunes if you are syncing via Wi-Fi.

This is incorrect. If you choose iCloud backup, your device will no longer automatically backup to your local computer. Of course, once iTunes recognizes your device(s), simply right-click on the device (in the Devices section of the left-hand column in iTunes) and select Backup and it will backup to your local computer.

To verify the backup, once complete, call up iTunes preferences and you can see the date time stamp of the last backup. Additionally, when you choose iCloud backup, you will be presented with a message stating that your device will only backup to iCloud from then on. Syncing with Wi-Fi really has nothing to do with it at all.

You can manually kick it off without a power connection from either the phone or the computer.... It automatically starts the sync when you connect to power.

My understanding -

Your local music would be replaced with iTunes Matched files on all iCloud devices (besides the originial at least cause they're already there). From the iCloud, music(matched and regular iTunes Purchases) can be downloaded/stored locally on those devices though. They can also be streamed if you like though.

Does this support the resume feature in LION? For example if I finished listening to a specific track. If I restart my mac, then would it continue to play (or at least list) the same track?

Thanks.
No, not even if you just restart iTunes. Resets everything.

So Wireless Sync is both on or off power supply, your choice if you want to do it off power supply, but it auto-syncs on power supply.

Be happy people. Gosh.:p

Looking through the security content of iTunes 10.5 I noticed that there are a few references to Security Update 2011-006 for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, however that update isn't out yet... hmmmmm...

Just music? Or will video be stored also? Would be a great addition on long trips to move our kids vids while in the car.

Edit: I am referring to music match. Do Amy ofthe beta testers know if video is included in the match service?
